I put the new clutch safety switch in todayand my car still starts in gear,without the clutch pushed in,why would it do that?

I was out wrenching gears today and all of a sudden I hit a pothole and my sunroof flew outta the hole!! With the Ninja like reflexes I have I was able to grab it before it broke loose but the closing clamp SNAPPED! I am asking if anyone has a sunroof laying around or that part itself?? I know its a long shot but...
