Anybody around here can do good with Turbos? I'm looking into twins set up for my car that I've come up with on paper.
I've gone to Dez Racing since I'm relatively close to him and another place in RI. Can't think of the name on top of my head but seems like a great guy. The problem is that, they both want to direct me into SC set ups. Nothing wrong with them and I did have a Pro Charger (P-1SC) in my old mustang that I've gotten into an accident with and it was stroked to 347. Not bad for that engine size but it started to have oil consumptions which I didn't like. But it is a great motor itself though. I want to try something new which is leaning towards the TT's. I did stop by MPE racing which is a great place but just wanted to know if anyone dealt with them. They took the privelege to show the whole shop and demonstrated the Mustangs that they had in hand which I was really impressed with their service but just have not have had any work from them as of yet.
What I have written down is this......
Either a stroked 331, 408 or go with stroked 4.6 Cobra Modular to a 5.0.
Hi Slyman .... We ( meaning MPE ) can help you with what ever you want to do . I don't know if I was there when you came to the shop , but you probably delt with Kirk , Cris , or Keven . Anyway I think you should go with the turbo set up . Your car will make sick power . Everybody has there preferance but, turbo's are the shit !! I know Dez and have delt with him for a year or so . He is a great guy and really knows his shit but , he does push the procharger set up . I think cause he knows how to tune them so well that he is more comfortable with them . Some questions I have are ........ What year car ?? What size motor ?? What do you intend to do with the car ?? You know... things like daily driver ,race car, etc. What are you running for a short block ?? What kits have you looked at ?? How much power do you want to make ?? The big one is cost , as a well put together turbo set up is not cheap , which I'm sure you already know . Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have .

Sent PM like about 2 days ago. Probably busy but just wanted to inform you.
Ya I got it . You want the all around race car with a 1000 hp that passes the sniffer and does it all . While it's possible it is a lofty goal to say the least . For one thing the suspension can be set up for track duty and drag racing using coil overs all around with adjustable shocks all around . To get the most out of each catagory though your going to need 2 sets of springs with different spring rates . Plus the street ride quality won't be the best with the stiff rates neede for scca track events . Your going to want big brakes and they will ad weight which is not the greatest for drag racing. Your also going to need a stout block to handle that kind of power along with the internals to go with . Plus a serious set of worked over heads and a ported race intake and a pretty big turbo or turbo's along with a fuel system that could empty a gas tanker in minutes. I would go with an Anderson PMS because it can store 3 programs for say .... street/ drag/ and track . We at MPE can help you as we have built some pretty stout cars . I would say just for the engine alone with a turbo setup your probably talking 30 to 40 G's installed . Another 5or 6 G's for the tranny and another 4500. for the rear axle set up . You should talk to DMC racing for all your chassis needs as they can handle anything . Plus you will need it certified and I don't know if DMC does this . So in the end give Chris a call @ MPE and talk to him about it and he can scheduale you in when your ready .

Well I've been having second thoughts now, not due to the price range of modifying and such. I'm thinking maybe have 2 Mustangs. Both in Fox Bodies, thats for sure. I am thinking of having the Coupe in Drag form and them a Hatch for the Street/Show style with a lot of goodies.
In the Coupe, for the engine, I am not 100% sure in which to go for the block but still definitely go with Turbo, no questions asked. Then the plethora of goodies that are required for dragging but I would personally like to take it to the street as well. So it would have to be "street legal". I would want to be able to "switch" tires by using skinnies up front for the race day as well as slicks, then use D.O.T. tires when I'm on the road.
As for the Hatch, pretty much as what I have explained in email that I have sent to you. I would definitely like to go with the Terminator motor and a Twin Turbo set up for the "street sleeper". Let me know what can be done here since I've been having second thoughts about this. I'm glad I have found some good people here and I would definitely like to meet you guys, Bostonstang group and you ofc.
Oh by the way, I forgot to mention, I want to have a "sheet metal" intake system for the Hatch. I've looked at the Hogan's Intake site and boy do they look sick?? But it says only for racing forms. Any way something like this can go in street form? Unless you or others have a better suggestion?

DMC can build/certify chassis.

Alright ........... If I were you I would get the turbo kit from HP , Hellion or some other reputable shop that makes a complete kit . Trying to make your own can be difficult and in the end could cost you more than a kit and with less performance . Use your stock short block along with a descent set of heads and intake with an E- cam to stay sniffer freindly . With only 6 pounds of boost you could make 450 to the wheels . Throw in a TKO 500 0r 600 or even the T56 with a well built 8.8 and your on the way to one fun and nasty street car . When your ready for more go for the boss block and turn up the boost and you will make 700-800 wheel horse no problem . I say do things in moderation with a set budget in mind . If you go crazy and try for the mental race car you most likely will give up on it before it ever gets finished . Because shit happens and money can run out quik. We all want the best parts and the baddest mustang or what ever but, sometimes you can loose sight of the end result . Which is just to have fun and be proud of your accomplishment . Anyway think about this and when your ready I would be happy to help you with parts combo suggestions and assembly if needed .
