well i decided to start over.im going to rebuild the motor, new heads, intake and swapping to a tko from auto. gonna smooth out the bay and clean up all unneeded stuff.
thanks guys, it is clean and stays clean in lawrence because its in my garage most of the time haha...anyways,i am rebuilding the bottom end with the stock stuff if i can.i talked to the machine shop and he is going to see if i can just do a re-ring and bearings, polish crank and hone, and re-use the stock parts. i just cant see spending big money on a rotating assembly that can handle 800hp when the block is supposedly only good for 500 or so. as for the heads, im lost. if anyone can help me out here i would appriciate it.ive read different things on heads and forced induction, where guys say its not as important as a N/A motor.for my intake,i bought the carb style efi manifold with the 90mm edelbrock elbow, but im not 100% sure im going that route yet. i found reman gt40 heads for 600 shipped, and i also found a set of "highly modified" E6SE heads from www.tristatecylinderhead.com with 1.94/1.54 for like $550. like i said i need some help and info on heads and turbo combos.
It did get tuned by performance dyno, but it was never able to get a full tune in. It would rev up to about 3500 then kinda cutout, it's hard to describe. It could of been so much air tryng to get thru the stock heads a d couldn't handle it... I dunno but it made 380tq at 3200 rpms. Hopefully with the new motor and better flowing heads I will be able to see around 500 hp on 10-12 psi.
i just got my car dynoed and it put down 429rwhp and 485rwtq 331 with gt40 heads @10psi via t70 turbo. going to need more boost if you want to break 500rwhp. that is also with only 10* base timing. made over 400rwtq at 2850rpm :)
93fox,those are good numbers with gt40 heads. Did you have any head work done? I found a set of reman gt40 heads for $600 shipped but I couldn't find any info about them being used with a turbo. Are you happy with the heads?
yes he was cool, there was a few people there that i think were getting in his way and i think he was aggrivated with them, but other than that he was very helpful,i think he spent alot of time with my car and trying to figure out the misfire problem. he told me once its fixed he would finish it for no charge. but now that i will have a whole new setup i dont think he would do it for nothing.
Pete is the best tuner in New England for mustangs period.
You can always find Trick Flow and AFR heads for sale on mustang forums. That would shave off a little front end weight too over and iron head. A custom ground cam may be a good route to if you really want to get the most out of your setup.
i think this is the first time ive 100 percent agreed with you t76 cobra pete is the man i wouldnt take my car anywhere else he stands behind his work like very few do pete to tune it and pk machine to build it and i know it will kick ass
i cant wait to see that intake on your car it gona look awesome i loved that intake and if i get another fox ill wish i didnt sell it but its going to a sick car
I just bought a new set of roush/world sr heads for $500. The heads have some work done and the kid never installed them. I'll see how those work. My block is bare and ready for the machine shop. I also ordered the fender panels from scottrodfab.com so hopefully things start to happen very soon.
nice project you got. The motor fell apart on the top end with the stock heads and stock intake ,even with ported E7's it still would flow just below P's depending on the valves and the port job( ask me I have Tom Moss ported E7's and intake.. flows better than stock and woke it a up but I should have gone a different route). I would stay away from the irons and either go for P's and better valve springs, etc or check out some used heads like AFR's, twisted etc. and get a better intake and cam and she will put out nice #'s. Those twins pushing through the stock intake/heads is so much lossed hp. Looking good sofar!
i cant use the P heads because of the manifolds i am using,it wont work. im still undecided on the heads,so many choices.i have a gt40 tubular intake manifold that i might use, still not 100% on that, was thinking maybe a holley systemax. ive heard people using the gt40 irons with great results, thats why i was looking into those,or even the gt40x aluminum.i have plenty of time,im going to try and get the engine bay done first and then the motor and tranny. if anyone has suggestions on H/C/I combos that work well with F/I please let me know.
its been a couple of months and i havent really done to much to the bay but i have my motor just about done and i have my tko600. my bottom end was rebuilt wit stock stuff, just had it honed and new bearings and rings.new trickflow heads, scorpion 1.6,tfs stage 1 cam, edelbrock water pump and holley systemax.hopefully it will come together real soon.
Thanks, I'm running the trickflow stg 1 cam. Also just bought a UPR K member kit and will be getting a flaming river manual rack kit. Just need to really get going on the work in my bay,I feel like I'm running out of time.
took out the k member and steering rack, bay is empty and ready for some more welding and body work....for you guys who have done bays before what would it cost me for some help here?
