theyre cancelling the Car Club at my school...

Hey guys... the car club at my school may be getting cancelled... the car show struggled last year and that was the only fundraiser, but no one ran for president i guess and the last one graduated so i just got an email saying it will be de-recognized by the school. its Bentley University in Waltham MA and im trying to gauge if its worth my time being president.

in the past we had the local astin martin dealership and some local customizing shops come to the shows... the shelby cobra club local branch came last year, and a couple other small clubs. if i want the club to continue i have to present to the activities board and would need a game plan... so basically im asking you guys (and i know some of you are shop owners) if you guys would come up here/ if there are any shops local to this area for a show probably in the spring. i would need a huge turnout to keep the club going but its something i want to do if i can...

i would like to make it a huge show if not two shows (fall and spring). let me know if its something you guys think i should pursue/ if you guys would know come/ know people who would come. i no this site is always looking for a good meet so maybe this could help...

its a club organization at a university, you do not get paid, the school will pretty much fund any club as long as there is significant interest but that funding is usually minimal.

its not about making money though, looks good on resume, just another thing and leadership position you have put yourself in to add so theres a benefit.

and it kinda sucks to see a thing like that die, me and scrib were texting about it today and the big issue is.. will it survive? not worth taking on something that will not be able to get a big enough following and die anyways

i tried making a club when i was at WENTWORTH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
it was going to be a club that would would build a car to drag race. it took alot of time and effort to even let the school to hear us to begin the club. we had to show that people we going to participate. i got the school to ok it but it soon failed an no interest came about because the school made us find or buy a car with our own money... so we were college kids so we went about to try to get donations but had no luck so the club fazzed out

good luck and give it a try
what will it hurt.... just some of your time!!!

They will fully fund the club the problem is just that its died once can it survive again. If I could put together a good show that's enough to keep it going. It just sucks to see it disappear. Probably wouldn't get paid but like yuke said its a good thng to talk aout in an interview especiakkky if it were with an auto manufacturer or dealership or even just a car guy.

We (Rekless) always have a huge season opening meet....last 5 years straight. We have also been talking about possibly putting on a real car show, trophies, prizes, etc....maybe we can join forces and help each other out with this. Hit me up on Rekless, link in sig, if you want to combine some efforts and try to make this happen.

where are you guys from mostly?

the good thing is that the club gets the campus parking lots for free to use for the show and its right off 128 in waltham

do you guys have agood turnout usually? this is what i was looking for... maybe i can pursue it further with the school

we could throw up some banners of all the clubs that attend and stuff

We have had over 150 cars and bikes show up in the past. Keep in mind this is just for meets, they aren't shows and nothing other than a few burgers and sodas are handed out.

We are mostly based in the RI and soutchcoast Ma. area, but there are stragglers all over lol.

Like I said man if interested hit me up and we can chat, I would be more than happy to get things going.
