still having problems with the 89

So I'm still having trouble with the stang any help would be much appreciated. It started after being parked over the winter. Its been bucking, stalling, hesitating bogging, backfiring while downshifting. Stalling at redlight. Missfiring. And here's what I've fixed to help but nothing. Tps, tfi module, different distributor, new cap and rotor, new wires, new plugs, new fuel filter,I've cleaned the air filter, mass air flow, egr. Please help any ideas ?

the egr if there is one would be mounted to the back side od intake near the throttlebody. look at my project thread and the silver thing on the throttlebody is the iac

Check the wiring harness connections near the back of the intake (look like salt and pepper shakers). You can try taking them apart and cleaning them with a little pick, then put a little dielectric grease in the connectors. My car was running like shit after the winter and that was part of the problem.

Could be the BAP. sensor . DOes it idle rough ... hesitate when cracking the throttle and or pop when you hit the gas ? A bad bap will cause this . It's the sensor mounted to the fire wall with an electrical connector right behind the intake . These sensors are pretty old by now and don't last forever .

I have no clue if its throwing any codes. I don't have a scanner. But the check engine light is not on. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Well I just picked up a walbro 255 pump and an accufab fp reg las nite. I paid 175 for both. Ill let everyone know if it fixes my problem or not. I don't think it is the plug though because it was having these problems first. Then I changed plugs wires cap and rotor distributor. Thanks though

Have you run the codes and performed a cylinder balance test? (not a compression test) Really might help narrow it down before you throw parts at it?

No I have not done a balance test. How do I do this or where do I go to have this done

You can do it yourself. It's part of the self-test procedure. It can tell you if a cylinder is misfiring or injector is not working properly. It basically shuts down one cylinder at a time and test various sensors. Really effective test if the issue is with a cylinder and is ignition or fuel related

http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/eecivtest-koeokoer.html

It's easier with a code reader, but can be done with a paperclip. You basically run the check engine codes and at the end perform the balance test. It's at the end of that link.

Btw, I have this kick ass ford code reader I got for 25. Displays numbers instead of blinking lights. Very easy to use. I use mine all the time to stay on top of things and keep my car running great.

if the pump doesnt work i might check the tire pressure like bighenault said. or i was told i could check the rear passenger break bulb. or the passenger door handle. or worst case senario replace the drivers coor handle. hopefully i dont have to get into these things. "thanks for the help guys" lol

Hey whats the word on the car?????..changed my pump nothing 255lph...took off the top of the motor apart and was going to check heads...upper intake off i noticed the phlonic(?) 1" spacer was a little wierd and not flat. bolted it to intake without upper on and saw light through it very small amount with light off in the garage...got some smaller stocker valve covers and bolted upper intake directly to lower and problem solved, running great with power back!
