i was told the timing is off,but not really sure, its running rough and if it stay running for a little the h pipe turns red

Does it idle at a high RPM? or normal RPM?
Also I'm in Lynn , So not too far , if you need help with it.

If it idles high ALL THE TIME.... your problem could be the idle air control motor. Thats just a guess....
