does anybody have anyclue y every 2 weeks my starter solenoid shits the bed??? sometimes when i turn the key to start it will just keep turning over after its running ..........but after 2 weeks it just dies i replace it and its fine for a week or so then goes again wtf lol . getting pretty pricy seeing i drive it once a week lol!!! any ideas guys?????? its a 1985 gt
This went on my explorer you might not need a new solenoid just check the weird little wire thingy (haha) that connects to it, take it off and then jump it using a screwdriver. if that works then its the wire.
keep a hammer in your car jus give it a bang wen it wont stop cranking lol. have u double checked the motor and battery connections on the selniod. also i would do a voltage drop test to much resistance in the wires could be making it to hott and frying it, that would explain it continuing to crank also

nah its wired correctly , ive put them in before ive had to many of these cars lol , never had a repeated issue after puttin in a new one tho , kinda sucks lol
wiress, none of them should drop more than .05v from the battery to the solenoid . a corroded wire could explain all the problems yours having...............
its either wired wrong or its not a oem solinoid......i had a mustang i bought in the past that would start and the starter would stay engaged after running maybe 5-10 seconds......turns out the starter solinoid near the battery was wired wrong. once i corrected it i never had a problem again. funny thing is the guy before me could not figure it out and owned his own shop!!!
well i'mm about 85% sure its wired correctly , i was 100% till i started this topic lol , so i'm ganna ask , what it the proper way to wire it up? and someone said it could be the in-line fuse thingy ??????
i had the same prob exactly i ended up getin a new one a week later i needed another then hapened again i put one of the olds one in and it workd did it again put another old one it it worked so i played with the wires one was coroded and it fixed the problem
