Jet Ski engine question... help

hey guys... my uncle had a jet ski he bought new in 95... about 5 years ago we put a new rebuilt motor in it... that year my cousin sucked up a rock in the impeller it got jammed. the ski sat for 2 years... i got the rock out and it didnt start, but the starter was chugging and it wanted to, but seemed like it wasnt getting gas (gummed up carb? expected?)

so aside from that... i took the plugs out and did a little compression test with my thumb over the whole, and one piston seems weak (like no pressure at all) the other 2 are fairly strong

so i started tearing down the engien figuring when she sucked up the rock the piston rings could have snapped?

so i got in there and the 2 cylenders that were good the rings looked fine, one was bent a little but looked ok... the other one though the rings are frozen (corroded) into the piston... any way to get these un stuck?

the piston is still connected to the crank, and you cant get the connecting rod off the crank... i would prefer to leave it all assembled but if i ahve to take the piston off the rod i guess i will...

and my last question... if i get them un frozen, how do i get the sleeve back over the piston since it has to come from the top down??

i would do a overhauls to that block since you said it has been sitting and you said that the one piston has corosion in it and the other had rings that were bent

but how can you use a ring compressor if the sleeve slides over the piston from the top down?

The bottom of the cylinder should open up a little so you can squeeze the rings with your fingers and feed the cylinder on one ring at a time . Use a good coating of Mix oil on the rings and cylinder. Once the head is back on check to make sure that the pistons move freely with no hanging or binding in the cylinders when they go up and down .
You could also try Sea Foam or Some PB and let it sit for a day soaking and that could free the sticking rings up . But like already said ... you might want to use new rings and make sure the cylinder is not scratched up or damaged in anyway ... also make sure the ring lands are real clean and won't hang the rings up .

sorry for the delayed response... i got all the rings out and cleaned them up, and they went back in pretty fine... i havent tried to put the head back on over them yet... so you think just squeez one ring at a time?

hopefully it runs when i get it back together... trying to teach myself how to clean a carb now...

another question though... would black marks (looks like the combustion blew by the ring) on the side of the piston just be from the piston ring being stuck in? thsi doesnt mean the piston is damaged right?

any other suggestions? if this gives me the compression, and the starter works, and i get teh carbs cleaned... it should fire i hope...
