Hey, so right now i have a green 97 gt and im going to change the color. Im going to Maaco to get it done, i know im going to take shit for this, but it needs paint bad and i dont have money to get a 3000 dollar job. Im most likely going to prep the car myself and have them spray it. Now where you guys come in, what color do you think i should go with. I was thinking either black or a molten bronze color. But do you guys have any ideas? The car has tan leather. Also if i was planijng on keeping the car for awhile i wouldnt get a maaco job, but im most likely going to try and sell it next summer. So what do you think?
well if your going to do black you better make sure you get the body perfect or it will look like shit anyway!! also the bronze prob wouldnt look so hot with that interior!! If your planning on selling it i would either paint it the same color, or maybe even white!! remember dark colors will show ALL imperfections, lighter colors are prob a better choice but something that will work with the interior color also!!!
maaco is not always cheap my dad had a car painted there like 3 years ago and they charged him $1900
if your gonna resell it just dont paint it at all these cars are selling for $1500 everywhere you look so even if you have it painted now what do you really expect to sell it for in a year

I would do that mike, like that would really be exactly what i would want, but i just dont have the money. Maaco is charging me 500 bucks for a color change cause they have some special going on now, if ican get the money i would deff get it done by you, i hear you do amazing work.
just did a 94 e-250 work van over looks like it rolled off the show room floor, 1500 bucks and that was including putting new rocker panels on it and two large rottted spots replaced
Maaco sucks, plain and simple and if you think otherwise you are a total idiot. This whole "maaco is good if you do the prep work" myth is a joke too. unless you are paying them properly to paint your car, it won't turn out good. Best thing if you want it guaranteed and done right is to take the car apart properly yourself and let the shop do the sanding/priming/filling/paint/etc themselves. Then you reassemble it. It will help keep costs down, your paint is still guaranteed and its not some hackers $500-$1000 paint job. Anyone in the industry knows you can not paint a car properly including materials for $1000.
I know what you mean, and i know maaco sucks. But the way im looking at it is, this is my first car, i dont plan on keeping it for ever, a year at most, and im only 17 so its not my last paint job, they will at least make my car look presentable. A person i know got a color change from Maaco and it looks really good except for 1 drip by the fender. I know its not going to be a show car and its not a car like alot of you have where its your bady, yea i do love it and all but i plan on investing in a better more powerfull stang next summer and all i want is to make it look better than it is now.
a nice paint job can be done for 1000 or less not gonna be perfect but def a nice job for 1000 if you see the right person, i would take mikes offer of 900 if you can come up with the money. he does amazing work and takes a really good price
maaco dosnt suck you just get what you pay for...if you think about it they got a guy there that does nothing all day every day that sprays cars in a spray booth he must be pretty damn good at it.....you just have morons puting bondo all over there cars and making waves like the ocean and saying they got it painted at maaco one of my friends personaly is a body man he does the body work and sends it to maaco and it always comes out %100
