well my girlfriends 05 trailblazer stalls randomly while either taking a turn while not on the gas or sometimes just going from reverse to drive. the rpm's drop to the point where it shuts off. any ideas??
any pics of the girlfriend will help me figure out what is wrong with the suv
do u still have a warrenty??
could be a bunch of possible things does the battery or abs light comes on
ecu could be bad
bad ground somewhere bad fuel pump when it stalls do the gages shut off??? has she run the tank empty like run it out of gas or below e? which could have sucked something up on the fuel pump
bring it to autozone and have them run for codes to see if anything popped a code
could be some many things and possible something stupid and simple

theres not CEL on but i did just have to put a new battery in it. it stalled twice within the first 10 minutes of driving right after. i have an odb II tester but it doesn't throw any codes. the old battery died very easily and would not stay running even after a jump. do you think the alternator is not putting out enough amps? and yea, she's a fan of not getting gas until she absolutely has to so its often on E

did u check the alternator??? anything on the gages shutting off replace the filter wouldnt hurt anyway since see likes driving on fumes it should be on the frame rail u probally dont even need to jack it up any warranty still on the suv????

If doing this prevents the engine from stalling, the most likey problem is with the Idle Air Control circuit. This could be dirty idle air bleed ports on the throttle body, or a defective Idle Air Control valve.
i havent checked the alt. yet as i did the battery yesterday and havent had any problems after the first 2 stalls. i didnt notice what the gauges were doing. but the filter could probably use a change regardless. and no warranty... i think the car stalled a few times when she first got it so thats probably why it was traded in in the first place.
so basically if you were to stop with your left foot on the brake you could keep it running with your foot on the gas????
when the battery died the other day i jumped it and let it run for a bit. when i backed out of the drive way and went to drive it stalled. i had to jump it again and keep my foot on the gas while getting into gear to keep it from dying again
check the air filter also run some 93 octane in it for the next few tanks with some injector cleaner to clean the fuel system should explain that she should not let go past 1/4 tank only if its an emergancy just tell her its bad to do if you have to go into details to she knows why

try this asap that will tell you if the Alt is ok... With the vehicle running, disconnect the negative cable from the battery. If the vehicle keeps running, the Alt is prob fine. If the vehicle dies, the alternator is probably bad.
alright thanks for the input guys. i'll do this stuff and see how it goes. like i said its not all the time so i might not know if its fixed for a while but we'll see
if it stays running after the negative terminal is disconnected.... I would start by checking the problem i stated above!! these trucks are notorious for that, as well as many other cars and trucks with the problem your having!!

o good idea, i'll try that tomorrow
that worked fine on cars with points in the distributor .....do that on newer cars and you can damage the computer

well then maybe i wont try that. i'll check out the iac and i'm gonna see if she keeps it above 1/4 tank if it happens
get a volt meter and check the volts at the battery and when running . should see over 12volts not running and over 14 volts running not loaded . Then check it running with everything on and it should not drop below 13.9 volts . Battery should not be going dead unless you have something draining the battery ( alarm or stereo ) .

well the old battery had died a bunch of times from leaving the lights on or sitting with the radio on for too long. i had autozone test the battery and then had them try to charge it and see if it would hold a charge. after the charge it was re tested and was actually worse.
That would appear to be a junk battery . You could also have a bad alternator . Borrow someones multimeter if you don't have one . Set it to volts and take the readings from the battery post . Check it with the car running and not running . 12 volts or better off, 14 volts running with no options turned on . I forget the exact voltage ..... but I think that if the computer see's less than 11 volts it will shut off .
