my buddy bought this car and its got a pretty bad starting problem once its hot, here's his post from another site...
"I have a '93 5.0 lx with very low miles. The car starts cold and runs perfect. When I shut it off and try to restart it while its hot it either hesitates and starts or doesnt start at all. I can wait till it cools and restart it fine or I can jump it and it also runs fine. I have since replaced the starter with new mini high torque starter w heat wrap, a new 140amp alternator, and a new battery. Need some suggestions "
now it doesnt shut down while he's driving, so it wouldnt be the ignition module getting to hot, i was thinking maybe the starter solenoid? but that wouldnt account for the slow turning over would it? already inspected all the battery cables and connections and everything seems to be fine, the only issue i had with the bat cables is that from the solenoid to the cut off switch is 2g wire, then from the switch to the battery its 4g, could that be the issue?

what do you mean by jump it?? are you jumping the battery, or the starter solenoid??? .. if it starts fine hot or cold by jumping the starter solenoid.. it needs to be replaced!!
check the firewall to engine ground!! and the battery's ground to engine.. make sure there nice an tight and there making a good contact... then try starting it when its hot and let me know how you make out!! Another question is.. does it have long tube headers??

yes check the timing ........bad ground would be all the time not just when hot ........check the coolent and oil while your at it you never know
my buddys car had the exact problem.. and it was a loose ground from the block to firewall!!! was perfect after it was tightned.. thats the only reason why i said that!
A. The most common cause of this problem with the particular ignition/engine management system in this vehicle is the ignition module. When it is installed a thin layer of heat sync compound is coated on the mounting surface between the module and the distributor in an effort to isolate the module from heat.
Over time the heat sync compound dissipates causing heat to negatively affect the operation of the ignition module. This problem is so prevalent in this particular system that I used to chalk up module replacement as a regular maintenance task.
hope this helps... the car wouldnt neccasserily die while driving.. but it would prevent it from starting until it cools!!

yaaa i know what you're talking about, the white shit that goes in between, im going to check that ground wire tomorrow, then the timing, then try the module
haha kid wouldnt believe me that a bad ground would be the problem, so i went to take his interior apart in the hatch because his battery is back there and we couldnt find where it was grounded and he didnt want me to so he ended up taking it to dez, and it was a bad battery ground
haha what a dumbass!! that must have cost a pretty penny for a stupid fix!! I knew that might be the problem, Good Grounds are key for a lot of problems!! So the cars fine now?? starts hot and cold..
