Question on tire size on a Foxbody

1990 mustang GT ...buddy has 17x9s all around 4lugs ...thinking about running 275s on the back which shouldnt be a problem but the fronts i think they will rub so maybe 255s ? car is lowered a little not sure if that will come into play ...what tire size are some of you guys running any problems ? thanks

Youn can try the 255's .. but it will most likley still rub . the problem is the 9" wide wheel in the front . I had 17x9 chrome cobra's on a 90 lx and had the same issue And I used a 245 /45 and it still rubed on the inside when I turned the wheel all the way . It's tuff to go wider than 8" on the front of a fox car . Also the 275's will work in the back .... they only rub a little if you don't roll the inner fender lip . If you roll the fender then your good to go .

235's the widest with no bs 245 will rub lightly no matter what the back spacing less on 91 up cars more on older and gt's with ground effects

I had 255/40/17 all around on 9" wide rims. they rubbed a little at full lock but nothing too bad. I also just pushed up the inner fender well plastic and used a short self tapping screw to hold it up. I now run a 245/45/17 up front and a 275/40/17 out back on the same rim and they fit just fine and my car is lowered an inch or so from stock. i did massage the inner fender lip in the rear to avoid rubbing issues.

if you still want the tires LMK

I have 245/45-17's all around on mine and the fronts rub a tiny bit. I have some 275/50-15 DR's on drag lites for the back and they rub the quad shock and inner wheel well a bit. I flipped the quad shocks to get some more clearance.

i had 295s in the rear and 265s in the front at stock height..on 18x9 and 18x10.5 wheels before, the fronts rubbed when i had the wheel turned all the way like in my driveway but the rears used to rub on bad bumps on the street i have 255s in the front and 275s in the rear now with 17x9s all around..still stock height no rubbing whatsoever

i had 255/40's on 17x9 inch wheels up front for the longest time and they never rubbed a thing. swapped to a 245/45 to fill the well better and the only rub i got was on the fender lip. never touched when i turned the wheel, even at full lock.
