Starting Problems!!


hey guys i hope one of you can help me out here... im changing my interior over to black so i took the original dash out changed the heater core while i was at it put the black one in and now the car does not start... everthing works fine, lights, horn, gauges, no wires were unplugged so i have no idea... i turn the key..fuel pump kicks on everthing is good to that point... turn it to start and nothing... not even a click!! any ideas?? thanks everyone

if you jump the solenoid will it start or turn over

on the clutch there is a safety switch are both wires connected


is it the same harness as before or different harness

yeah its the same harness, and both wires are connected on the clutch switch... but acually i have not tried jumping the solenoid.. where is it?? is it on the driver side fender apron??

yes it is should be black and round looks like this

alright thanks guys im going to try this.... Do you know which 2 posts on the solenoid i jump?? and do i have to remove any wires from it to jump it??

just touch a screwdriver to 2 of them together and it sghould try to start dont take any wires off

ok.. i turned the key on before hand so if it turned over it would start and it did... so do i have to replace this solenoid??? or could it just be a bad ground??

id say just replace the solinoid cuz it sounds like it is shot. its really cheap and easy

well i ended up replacing the solenoid with a new motorcraft one.. and still nothing!! so i ended up checking the ignition wire to the solenoid while someone was turning the key and no power to it, went under the column and someone must have previously had an alarm or something in it, and there shitty crimp connector came loose and the wire was hanging out of it!! so the problem is fixed... Thanks guys for your help!! i appreciate it!!
