i know this was on the site awhile ago, just cant find it. what im looking for is the info on the engine bay side walls. Where the battery and the windsheild wiper fluid container are in the engine bay, they make preformed sheets of metal that smooth out the interior. Make sense? I just want to clean up the bay a bit, and want it to look good. Thanks guys and gals.
You can just get sheet metal from home depot and make some yourself. Mine is slightly different than yours, but I tucked all my wiring, removed the washer fluid, emissions, etc. and left the battery where it was, but made a custom tray for it to clean things up. If you need some pics or more info. I can give you some, but I believe there are a bunch of write-ups about this on the turboforums.com.
if you look closely at the engine bay you can see how it is completely smoothed you cant even see the strut towers....there are many different fabrication you can do im unsure of anything they sell though. i work at a restoration shop that does quality work at a good price. let me know if theres anything we can do for you.
See if these pics work or help at all. I know I have some pics of the build somewhere but ill have to dig them up. I tried to smooth as much shit as possible but still keep the battery in place and whatnot. I also cut out that nasty looking pinch weld lip/shelf on the firewall and welded that bitch up.

Mustswang, your looks awesome as well. did you just fill in the holes via welding? i started to do that, but am leaning more towards the above. i dont know why, just like it. thanks guys.
I filled in all of the small holes with welding, but made plates for the big parts. I cut out cardboard pieces first to mock everything up and then used sheetmetal from the depot to finalize it. The medium holes I cut small pieces of metal and welded them behind the holes. Then I ground all the big welds off, and rewelded and ground down almost everything again before it was smooth and strong. After that I used Bondo-glass and regular bondo to smooth everything out. It was my first time doing any body work or using bondo but I really took my time and think it came out great. It was kind of a bitch, but if you take your time and think its worth it, you will be happy with the results. I know there are some more detailed write-ups on this if you are really interested, but i will try to find the pics of what I did myself. Mine has held up well after two years, but I am going to smooth out some more shit and re-do the entire engine bay due to a turbo install that required holes to be drilled and cut. I also tucked almost every wire, wiring harness and fuse box etc. behind my dash where the HVAC used to be in order to clean things up even more. I will try to take plenty of pics this time of the entire build up.
Here is one more pic of it painted that kind of gives you an idea of what it looks like with most of the shit out. I forgot to mention that I did everything with the engine in place. I also welded up and smoothed all of the seams on the upper fenders, where the fender actually bolts on as well as where the seams are on either side of the upper radiator support. It would help to explain and remember if I could find my build pics.
