Detonation? Bad gas maybe. I have seen it punch holes like that.

i was towing my car trailer with nothing on it but i was doing about 85-90 i mean i probably was WOT for about 10 mins straight but it wasnt high rpms maybe 4k

why just one cyl.? is my ? the thing that suck is rest of engine is perfect. i mean clean as all hell it has 152k i cant just put a new piston in the cylinder wall is all scored up

valve train is fine somehow just burnt a hole in it and thats the thickest part of the piston.

If that was cylinder 4 or 8 they were common to blow up like that. due to the firing order. there is a revised firing order for 5.0 and 5.8 truck motors. because 7and 8 wires were too close to each other and it was jumping spark. lookis like that might of been you issue.

Ding, Ding ,Ding !!!! We have a winner !! Holding your foot to the floor for 10 min. doing 80 to 90 mph with bad gas and towing a trailer will net you the results you got . Your injector could have been bad too . Causing the cylinder to go lean and burn up the piston .
If your going to do another swap ... why not drop in a 351 ? More power and torque for your towing needs .

damn mike, that sucks. What were you thinking, the truck is no mustang lololol although, they way all our cars have been lately, I wouldnt be surprised if you did the same in the stang but not as long and got the same outcome.
