Friend of mine has one real nice and clean...would this work on a stock 5.0 or is it too small and id need two...if all else fails i could always use this bad boy haha...
What size is the turbo? Is it the T3 or IHI? The T3 might be ok, but I don't think they are very big, maybe a T50 at best. How much power do you want to make. I think if its smaller than a T60 you would want to upgrade or run twins. Is it a thrust bearing or ball bearing? If its a good turbo grab the wastegate, intercooler and blow off valve too. You can pick up intercoolers with piping on ebay for short $$$ if this car didn't come with one.
I know you can buy just piping from some places, maybe BG customs, Quicktime or Ponydown for cheap, but you supply the turbo, blow off valve, wastegate and intercooler I think. I forget who sold the piping only, but check corral and I am sure you will find it.
Also too grab the rear end if its a 5 spd. Should be 3.55's which would be ok for a turbo car and give you rear disc. If its a properly designed turbo kit install is easy and on fox bodies you don't need to swap k members and run coilovers if you don't want to.
not sure which turbo...was just talkin about the huge one i have any my buddy just mentioned he had it...ill grab it tonight and try to find some specs on it...im not really aiming for nay specifi HP rating...would just like to throw the turbo on and have fun with it ya know...also my engine is carb'd...ive seen a kit on ebay...its the carb cap...2 45 dgree pipes, 2 90 degree pipes 4 straight ones and all the couplers and clamps for $300 then ive seen intercoolers for as cheap as $180...so im sure ill figure somethin out...and now that im workin it could be a possibility lol...thanks fro the info
Check the turbo size and the a/r housing size too. I know a couple guys who bought the ebay intercoolers and piping for their vortech cars and had good success making their setup intercooled. There are a lot of turbo carb'd guys on corral in the turbocharger forum, you should check it out.
