Where does this Speedo Retaining Clip Go????? HELP!


I just bought a New Speedo Gear Retaing Clip.. cuz mine was missing apparently, so I bought a new one... Now I'm having a problem as to where it goes exactly... can anyone show me a pic or something and help me out... It's probably easy but just want to make sure its going in the right spot... here is a pic of the clip I was referring to.. Thanks guys for the help. bret

Ok if I can see straight... LOL (No I'm not drunk or high LOL) It appears the retaining clip is on the gear itself, correct me If I'm wrong tho.. Thanks for the help capriman86

Correct, you just put the gear on the cable, then slide the retaining clip on, you will see the cut
outs on the sides for it to lock on.

Sweet thanks for the info capriman86... but damn I don't think that clip is whats going to solve my problem now that I think about it... Here is the problem I'm having... I got tranny fluid slowly leaking from where the speedogear seats onto the tranny dunno if its that black seal that goes around the speed gear thats causing the problem or what... Is there anything I should look for or is it something that needs to be replaced in that particular area... Thanks again for the great help, I appreciate it bro.

Pull it back out a little, put some silcone caulking around it, re-insert.

If I do that, will I be able to take it out in the future if need be? Thanks again for the help. praise2

P.S. the other thing I noticed too was that on the speedo gear sensor wire harness, the orange wire was cut, but my speedometer still works, whats that orange wire for anyways? I'm assuming its to tell the computer how fast the car is going??? In any event I'm going to replace that connector just to be on the safe side. bret
