Clutch is in and good to go...but im having a problem with the clutch not fully disengaging...had the same problem last year ...have the stock quadrent and cable in it...anny ideas????
dno...only reason id say not is b/c when i put a clutch in last year with a BRAND new cable it did the same thing...and when i first bought the car it was even worse that why i did it originally...so i dno im stuck
Well finally got my new clutch in everything bolted up ready to go...but like last year when i put a new clutch in and a new cable...it wont fully disengage...so my car either will grind or not go into gear without a fight...its fully adjusted and everything...i still have a stock quadrant and everything...maybe that could be it? and another thing...the space where the clutch fork slides back and forth...the fork seems to be sitting towards the back end of it...dno if thats normal or what...lemme know what you guys think...thanks
cant yout adjust the piviot ball that the clutch fork rides on?? maybe that got adjusted out
yeh i started taking the tranni back out today...gonna try that...then gona switch the bellhousings and spacers from my dads car to mine and see if myabe thats it...if not then ill try shimming the clutch pedal assembly out...i dno
Josh It may be your Stock Clutch Quadrant.. The teeth on it may be grinded off, as it happens from old age.. It happened with mine... I ended up buying a UPR 3 Hook Clutch Quadrant and haven't had a problem since, its a great investment, it'll save you the headaches in the long run and you won't regret it.. A firewall adjuster helps as well... It does sound like your clutch is out of adjustment, but definitly inspect the stock quadrant for any signs of wear.. Good Luck and keep us posted bro.. Hope that helps.
nah quadrant was brand new OEM ford last year and is still fine...if the teeth were ground of id def know...it still adjusts fine the way the stock cluthc should...but i cant even put it into gear unless the car is off
Pull UP on the clutch pedal, the stock quadrants are self adjusting. Pull it up with about 10lbs of force and it should ratchet in.
already been done...what i did earlier is put my car and my dads notch up on jackstands...when i pusjed down on the clutch pedal the fork underneath moved an 1 1/4" and mine only moved about an inch...so im wondering if somethin is messed up in the pedal assembly
Any play in the cable? Was it a Ford cable you put in or aftermarket? Aftermarkets are known to stretch easier than Ford pieces. Only other thing I can think of right now is the pivot ball being too far in, or bent fork and/or fingers.
check the throw out bearing retainer housing on the trans for wear from the throw out bearing. It usually causes the throw out bearing to move in and out at an angle. causing a bad pedal. found to many of those bad

Oh Ok, wasn't sure if you had a new OEM Quadrant, then scratch that idea out.. LOL, I thought maybe the OEM one was old, because I don't hear to many people getting the OEM ones, instead they get the aftermarket ones... The OEM ones are nice because they automatically adjust, but anyways, yeah maybe it's the cable, could be stretched, could be the fork, I dunno could be a combination of things, I think everyones pretty much covered what to look for, Keep us posted.
bought a $100 cable from ford when i did everything last year so i highly doubt its stretched...all of your guys' suggestions make sense...but its the fact that ive had this problem since i bought the car 2 years ago...im gonna try the pivot ball and maybe try shimming my whoe pedal assembly...

Get to work already...less talking and more working.fix the fucking thing already lol
^^^dno...like i said im gonna try and shim it...if that doenst work i have another clutch pedal assembly and see how that works
"shimming it" is a half assed way to "fix" it. If you have another assembly, I would put that in. If that is the problem, that thing is already fatigued and not worth a shit.
Josh, quit being a retard...all the time you have wasted posting here and fucking with that OEM junk, you could have bought a brand new aftermarket aluminum with teflon lined cable and firewall adjuster for $100 from mu...Granatelli...like the one I have...the factory pieces, even brand new are junk...firewall adjusters are for TEMPORARY use only, they just screw up and end up tightening again...another waste of time...love ya bud,but you are a meat head...lol
no my dads been working out in sterling everyday for my aunt to ger her new business set up...so as soon as thats done ill keep ya posted...the new pedal assembly is in so we'll see what happens with that...if its still the same problem then ill pull the tranni back out and check the pivot ball...then if i still have the problem i have NO IDEA lol...and while the steering column and stuff is out i might as well do my heater core too...more fun
I didn't see any one else post this , but... have you ever replaced the pilot bearing ? I'm thinking that it's seized and is grabbing the input shaft when the engine is running and not letting the input shaft spin freely when the clutch is disengaged . Just my and probably all it's worth ..
