Milford (WTNH) _ Prayers and sympathies are going out to the families of two teenagers who were killed in a crash at the Connecticut Post Mall Monday night. A third teen remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Students teary-eyed and heartbroken decorated the scene where two Milford students lost their lives Monday night. Shawn Foley, 17, and Jon Dolceaqua, 18, died when Foley lost control of his 1990 Nissan SX. The teen hit an utility pole along Ring Road near the Milford mall.
The speed limit there is 25 miles an hour and investigators are looking into the possibility that the teens may have been drag racing with another car.
Another passenger is Foley's car, 16-year old Michael Vicino, was critically injured.
Foley and Dolceacqua were students at Jonathan Law High. Vicino had been a student there, but transferred to Bullard Haven Technical School in Bridgeport.
"Shawn Foley and Jonathan Dolceacqua were friends to all they encountered," Janet Garagliano principal of Jonathan Law High School, said in a statement. "We will fondly remember them - whether on the field or in the classrooms."
Grief counselors were on hand at the school to talk with students and staff.
This is the most recent in a string of deadly crashes involving teens behind the wheel. After other deadly crashes in Bristol and Wolcott, Gov. Jodi Rell created a Teen Driving Task Force to look at ways to make teens more safe behind the wheel.
A second public forum for the task force is scheduled to meet at Hill Regional High School in New Haven Wednesday night.
