I was all set and ready to get the Blizzak WS-50 until my father called a manager at TFT in Seabrook yesterday. This is what he told my father:
he would never in a million years put 2 blizzaks on the rear. They are a really soft compound and in the snow and ice they are good but when it comes to dry pavement the ass end is very likly to just spin right around and i am going to get in an accident. If i accelerate hard in a corner im deff. going sideways. If i even wanna consider having my car through the winter do no get thoes tires. He would never put them on a Mustang nevermind a GT, He will put them on if i want but it will be against his own will....
What do you guys (paul) think about this? Yes or BS? Anyone ever had bad luck with blizzaks?
please let me know i needa get tires asap... especialy with the snow i got coming.
I appreciate your input... even though most have put they're opinion in already.
well hes kinda right. they suck big time in dry traction, but how he made it seem is a little to extreme to me. i did work at TFT before. but like I told YOU. 4 all season tires.
It couldnt be that bad to have them in the back. It cant be worse to have the blizzaks on dry then to not have them in the snow. You probably would be better off with all seasons all around but if you can only get the two in the back, just drive carefully. Im sure you would figure it out pretty quickly how the tires hold up in the conditions and wouldnt just be sliding around uncontrollably.
just like any MT drag tire or any soft drag tire for that matter, the car will sway but honeslty you shouldnt be driving like a nut anyways becuz thats how you will crash...
it will b fine your not punching it trying to spin them like i said b4 if u want come to quincy and take my car for a ride and youll kno :) but this is my second winter on the blizzacks and they'll probbly still b good for next winter

well just got back from Agway and grabbed 3, 70Lb. bags of tube sand so got an extra 210lbs. in the rear. decided im going to hold off on the winter tires for now and see how the car is with the tires i have and the extra weight. I figure im not going to be driving if the roads are coverd in snow anyways so no sense in spending the $300+ on snow tires. Well i'll see what happends in my buddys drive that ice/snow tonite and see what happends this weekend. Might end up taking a bag out.. car is squating some and dont wanna have to much in.
