ATTN: Scott or Rob or someone....Carb spacer question

do carb spacers like increase the air intake velocity or something....wahts the point of spacers...ik theyre supposed to add hp...but it seems like it would decrease air intake velocity cuz it gives more time for the air to loose speed going into the intake runners u know what im sayin???? i put it on today...and i got the motor back together with the GT40PS , B303 Cam and a edlebrock airgap intake...im using a edelbrock 600 right now cuz my holley is off for the winter cuz it has no choke....basicly...is the spacer helpin me out...or am i hurting power, i dont see ppl using them much on carbs...thaths why i was wondering thanks

It does increase HP around 8 HP on a naturally aspirated 302. Car Craft did a dyno test recently called "Low Buck VS. High Dollar" where they tested it.

Yes they work Frank . I would assume that some people don't use one because of possible air cleaner to hood clearence ..

4 hole Carb Spacers created artificial air speed that broadens power curve. Single hole/open square bore spacers, increase plenum volume which gain at the upper end of the curve. A spacer alows u to add more fuel quicker. I.E. accel pump/jet sizes.

word so its worth it to put it on...i have a 1 inch 4spread bore spacer and i have a 3in cowl hood so clearance is no problem...just figured id ask since im new to the carburator thing...i get the basics...but im not old enough to have lived back in the day where carburators ruled and everyone culd tune them...if i dont like the carb...im doing Accel dfi over the summer...unless anyone else has some other fuel injection suggestions., thanks guys!

Right on! I run a open 1" spacer on my Air gap intake.

Not on a stang but I use a 4 hole spacer 1" on my car. It's a phenolic spacer to reduce heat on the carb too.
