PUTTING GT40 Or GT40P HEADS ON MY CAR....comp cams or trickflow cam???

PREFABLY THE OLDER GT4O;S , not p'sO(ya i already have gt40p type headers from mac)...im also going with either a comp cams part # 35-351-8...512 lift I/E and 218intake duration and 224 exhaust wich comp cams themselve recommended, or the stage 1 trickflow cam for a lot less money....with a edelbrock airgap intake and a 600 double pumper those heads and cam, exhaust, what do u guys think ill be makin for horse...im thinkin with the right timing and carb tuning about 245-260 rwhp and close to 300 tq i hope...i need some thoughts..the reason im building a mild mild motor is because the chassis and susp on the car is not up to snuff for even a stock 302...so this winter im concentrating more on the rear susp of the car...

With either cam Big Frank , you should see around 300 rwhp and a little more torque with the right carb and tune up .. I'd go 650 on the carb in my opinion to .. I had a F.I. set up with GT40 heads and a trickflow street heat intake with a B cam ( 488 lift ) and 24# inj. and made 280 rwhp . . So you should do better with the carb for sure .

I have the gt40P heads and a E 303 cam and I love the combo. It runs nice.

hmmm...id rather have a split duration cam to make up for the smaller exhaust valve and port....the trickflow has higher exhaust lift and duration....but i read in alot of places that its basicly designed just for the twisted wedge heads...the e303 is so outdated but definatly still a nice cam for ur everyday beater/stripper....i wuld probly go with a 650double pumper...but i already bought the 600...i can probly make it flow like a 650 if i have to...thanks for the input guys...im still not 100% on what heasds i want, but seeing in how my susp a is hURTIN FOR CERTAIN...Id like to put alot of money and focus on that before having a decent hp motor...theres no point...u cant have your jelly with out your peanut butter, basicly.

More exhaust lift and duration will only help with a power adder .. otherwise you loose to much cylinder pressure naturaly aspirated . The results usaully is more horse with less torque .. not good in a street driven car .

Don't worry about the suspension .... mines still stock wink.gif ....

4haha...ya urs susp is FAR more superior than mine...plus its only 6-7 yrs old...mines 21 yrs old..and still has the origanal 4cyl springs in it, wich im keepin for wieght transfer...its got bilstein shocks in the rear...i just gotta get all new control arms and bushhings and rebuild the rear end(clutch paks, bearings and seals,... ...i might even look at the b303 cam...i can get the E303 for like 75$ from sum guy down the street from me....its alright i got all winter to think about it...if i can come up with enough money im gettin twisted wedge heads or edelbrock rpm performers...but for now, its lookin like the budget build up...
