hey frank! i did my last fox at maaco. it came out decent. couple of weird spots on it, but overall not bad. thrashers old stang had a maaco job on it too, looked good. the one thing i noticed is that the front always gets chips all over it. the paint chips right off the front, but fuck it. i paid 500 for mine, it was in primer, wetsanded, washed, and ready to go. all they did was mask it and spray it. thats it. it looked good though.
ya pat they told me 500$ and there gonna prime it, sand it, tape it and spray it....im gonna give it a once over with 220 grit and then they can sand it again and prime it....im not worried about it being perfect at all....its a street car....all i know is i had edelbrock heads and a f-cam on my last car w. a nice EFI set up, this one's carbed and i have trickflow heads and a e-cam coming for it....plus the air-gap intake it has anf a 600double pumper. and 373's....hopefully puttin the front end on in a week or 2 soon as i get my door back from my buddy then shuld be ready to go,.

Yeahh, not bad. they do a decent job. my 89 looked really good from 10 feet, and decent up close. i had "dark blue metallic" its a chevy avalanche color, it looks pretty sick when it was all waxed and shined up.
personaly i dont care for macco. if your ganna get it done get it done right. but then again im picky and id be bumbed if it came out decent and not great so i guess its personal preference.
ya idk ill be pretty pissed if it doesnt come out decent....but i cant ever see myself spending more than 500$ on ANY Paint job...im concentrating more on how it performs on the street rather than how cool it looks...its gonna look totaly stock im even using the stock hood that JUST clears my carb....and its just gonna have cobra';s on it...maaco is givin me a 4yr warrunty ont he clear coat...so we'll see....thanks for the input tho guys/

I think it looks better all green taking those molding off and painting them are a bitch the door molding suck the most
LIAR! Here's how "hard" it is...
1) Get razor blade and heat gun, and heat up the molding and cut off the tape on the back with the razor blade. (15 minutes a door)
2) Lay flat out on the floor and go over with the heatgun to make them perfectly straight (10 minutes a molding)
3) Wetsand them (5 minutes a molding)
4) Primer them (3-5 minutes a molding)
4) Wetsand once more before painting or re-attaching (5 minutes a molding)
5) Buy the tape from 3M and stick it on the back, spend a few minutes lining it up, and stick it on. (10-15 minutes a molding)
BINGO, DONE. EASY AS FUCK. I was 16 years old and I figured it out by myself. Came out perfect, no peeling, all the paint stuck great, smooth and easy to do. And if anyone wants to argue with me...
ya im doin my moldings black... i love the black moldings idk y haha....im just gonna tape them off when maaco goes to spray it....then when i get it back, buy some special bumper paint with the flex shit in it....basicly do what pat said and spray them black....like i said, im not building a show car....and i dont think it will look hack..im very meticulous when it comes to body work, ill spend 5 hrs on 1 dent and redo it 40 times before im happy....i culd do it quicker,...but lets be honest, im not a body man, nor do i want to be....anways, im keepin em black....ill just tape off the car and spray the moldings black....fuck it

I hear that Frank! I spent 9 months getting my car straight, and it was nearly perfect. All the spots that I did, we're perfect. It was the regular spots (door dings that I couldn't see and shit) that made it less than perfect. I made the entire quarter pannels out of bondo, sheet metal, tac welds, and rivets...and you'd never know. But then there were a few little dings on the door which made it looks not as good as it should. But 100% of my body work came out flawless.
this is how i see it, if they came w/ black moldings, they should stay black (79-91) & if they were painted w/ matching body color (92-93) they should stay colored i am a stickler for keeping the moldings correct on the fox cars. that way, when i see one i can kind of tell right off about whats year(s) it may be. i do like the 87-91 foxes w/ the black molding best like my 88. so..... for yours, have them done in body color.

i think if i was restoring a car back to original or close to original, id def paint the moldings the way they came outta the factory, but im doin a 4cyl converison sleeper...im not worried about the moldings...really not to worried about the paint and shit either...im gonna spray it and forget about it and concentrated on susp and motor
