I just picked up a twin turbo setup for my car. Both turbos are brand new with plastic caps still on. Has boost controller, oil catch can, manifolds, intercooler, bov, long tube h pipe and spintech mufflers. I paid 550 for everything. I will need the piping from turbos to intercooler and the downpipe for the hotside, some clamps and gaskets. I think I'm going to upgrade the injectors to 60's and a new meter. Any thouhts on this or other ideas that I should do for this project
I have a twin turbo setup, where did you get everything for $550??? I'm using 39# injectors from 04 cobra, they are good for 650hp. What is done to your motor? I made all my own piping. You can check out my build in the projects section titled "starting over" let me know if you have any questions.
The engine is a d.s.s. 306. Cam trick flow aluminum heads. Cobra upper and lower intake. I found everything on cl he was asking 800 for everything. I got it all for 550 and the turbos are brand new.
I would suggest you buy a bunch of mandrel bends and make your own setup. If it's anything like mine, there is no kit that will work,it has to be made to fit your setup. Can you post a few pics of the parts? I would like to see your manifolds. What do you have for a tranny?
If you are gonna buy the ebay cheap stuff make sure you get it hi temp coated along the headers and exhaust housing of the turbo. You don't want your tubing rotting out in a couple years. The 39# injectors will not go to 650 rwhp. 60's are good ones to start with depending on how much power you want to make. On a stock 302 block the 60's will be more than adequate. Get a good blow thru style MAF too. Depending on the turbos and their location you may want to run a scavenger system to keep the oil flowing properly.
i spoke with a tech at C&L and he ran the calculations on the 39 and 42# injectors and they are pretty dead even, he told me 651 to be exact.
Go talk to a cobra owner w/ whipple, turbo on KB on his car. They aren't running 39# injector. 42's wont' get you 650hp either to the rear wheels. Once you crack the 500 rwhp mark you need to upgrade to 60's.
Just an fyi for you so you don't grenade your motor with the wrong injectors. I bet if you keep your car around 450 rwhp you will be ok with the 39's.
That's where I plan on being around 450ish. What I was getting at with the injectors is that 39&42 will be plenty for a stock block, supposedly they are good for about 500-550 hp and I guess they can split. I don't want to take that chance so I'll see where 10psi gets me.
Ok so my turbos are 56 mm. The hotside turbine is .63 and the coldside turbine is .50. They supposedly can handle up to 700 horse. I'm looking for 450-500. I have a dss 306. With alluminum heads and a pretty radical cam. The tranny is a tremec tko 500 with a pro 5.0 shifter. I'm going to run the 60's I already have the manifolds. They are stainless.
I already have a walbro 255 intank. I'm also going to run an inline as well. I have an accufab fpreg. And I'm running an autometer sport comp boost guage. I have an mas 6al box with a 6100 chip in it. Not sure of the brand on the turbos
Ok so I just sold my turbos today at the swap meet. Let's see what happens now. Someone paid me 550 just for the turbo setup never mind the extra parts I got with the kit.
