Project no turning back


Started tearing down my 03 mustang gt. suspension it gone going to build a mustang 2 style up front. the rear will be tubbed not sure on the exact what set up for the rear. as for the motor maybe a stroked 5.4 to 6.2 dohc with twin tubos t-56 trans custom interior pretty much going all out. started removing shock towers today.

single turbo will make more than enuff steam ..... doing a teksid block 4.6 b headed build gonna use a 76 mm on the track car , you can make 650 PLUS easy to the tires single but good luck

nope i meant what i said ...i see a nice clean low miles o3 gt with the front of the car cut with a sawzall for no apparent reason could have easily be put back together to look something like pjs car

its not being negative really ...just giving our opinion if you want to chop up your 03gt and build a rad street/track car that takes 5 years thats your deal ..but i bet 20 bucks this project gets scraped but thats just me ...not being negative but ive alot of these projects not get finished cause people lose motivation or money and then in the end come out on the losing end ....good luck with it hope you prove us wrong

Don't give him any ideas. If it looks like mine, I'll have to sell it and i don't want to sell this car hahaha. Personally, I think it's kinda nuts to tear a nice clean car to pieces like that, but to each his own. Just don't leave it to rot like most will do.

i think its cool its very different and thats why i like it...andrew u can use 2x3 to use as the rails might save you some money....all in all gonna be a sick car with a lot of ideas put to use...good luck bud

yea I was going to get 2x3 at the local steel yard. I plan on the suspension being done by july the motor will take some time the stroker kit for a 5.4 is 2500 bucks so I plan on having a rolling chassis by summer then start on motor work.

i like the ideas to do something diffrent .....i got a street car and a race car thats in progress a noch mini tubbed with a 4 valve .....but its gonna be for track motor plates ect ....my question is why did ya want to go to the mustang 2 style front end ? somthing you had ? ....this isnt being negative just curious the gains over using a a tubular k member from like aje with tube arms and racecraft spindles ect ..... if ya going to be doing a serious race car and ya wanna see some ideas .....my notch is cert to 8.50s chromroly cage thru floor connectors , mini tubbed , shortend 8.8 with 9 inch ends braced front and back .....ect there may be some pics on here already but in taunton if its somthing ya wanted to see ..... good luck with build

Going with the mustang 2 front for room. A dohc 5.4 with turbos gets kindof big not going to be a race only car more of a radical street car with the potencial to kick ass racing

i know it could fit but i wanted to have plenty of space for headers and the downtubes. But plans might have already changed i did some research on stroker kits for the 5.4 and nobody recomends it so maybe i will save up for a new 5.0l cyote with twin turbos not sure yet though

Or make it easier and run a boss 5.0 block and build that up. No wiring issues, if there any to run a coyote motor, turbo kits are already out there for a mod motor car and the availability of head, intakes, cams etc is right there.

cut the rest of the shock towers out will be picking up my rails on saturday so i will have some good updates next week. also the motor will be a 6.0L stroker for sure.

might be a dumb quesetion but what is the point of cutting the strut towers out

what are you going to do tube it and mount the strut to the rail?

he is doing a mustang 2 front suspension which contains upper and lower control arms so you dont nned to mount the strut to inner fender, and im sure he is prob gunna put the turbos in there too. so there will be plenty of room for the down pipes.just what im guessing....

small update. got the drivers side rail cut out and know where my new rail will sit. 3 inches lower will be where the new rail goes. didnt get my new rails yet got a truck last weekend instead but hopefully this weekend i will get the rails and crossmember material and start building.

i had a tire lying around so i decided to put it in the wheel well with the framerail cut out to see what it would look like. the tire is a 275. i might try to move my rails in and inch or inch n a half to get a 300 tire in there a real wide and low stance will handle great if i can fit it. if it fits i will have 300/40r18 in front and 345/35r19 in back all tucked up nice.
