im puttin afr 185 aluminum heads on,i was wondering if i can use the head bolts that im using now with my gt40 cast iron heads and can i re-use my pushrods or will i need diffrent ones if so what size, thanks for any help
what bolts are you using on the gt-40s you will need to check your pushrod length. Are you trying to put these on a stock shortblock if so they will not work.
If you are changing the heads, now is a good time to upgrade the bolts. If they are arp or others already, you can definitely reuse them. Stock bolts will work but its is worth the money for stronger aftermarket ones. What roller rockers are you using?

factory head bolts are reusable but the fact is they are torque to yeild which means they shouldnt be reused,,u can pass off on a stockish motor because isnt gonna be to much of a beating...since you have a 331 and you will be bumping up to 185s your best bet is to get new better ones
BE sure to get the bolts with the spacers . 302 based blocks have thinner diameter head bolts than the 351 w . Most aftermarket heads are machined for the thicker 351 w head bolts and if you don't use the spacer /collers you will have problems .
