My mustang gets NO driving time at all, i start it an let it run every now an then at tops for 20min. today i rolled it outta my garage, started it up and it was running for about 10min then i heard a loud knock. i ran over to check it out an the check engine was blinking, an it was knocking bad. i go to start it up again an its barely running & VERY quiet. then i tryied again an it wouldnt start (sounds flooded). also when i turn the key it usualy makes a high pitched sound, the sound when i turn the key is very deep an weak. can anyone shed some light on this??? i'm stumped

might sound stupid but what oil filter you running i bought a stang once that had the wrong oil filter and it was knocking also pull off serpintine belt and see if knock is still there

the high pitch whining now its a low pitch whining kinda sounds like maybe a fuel pump check the fuel pressure hopefully nothing major ididnt you just have the heads changed knocking on those motors it usualy a chain tensionor on the timing chains had a few in my shop for tensionor issues
Snakebite- I did the oil not to long ago an bought a fram tough gaurd an its for the car no doubt, the car will not start but wants to so idk if its going to knock still an cant test it until it starts up lol.
Droptopfox- Yes, it turned into a low pitch whining whenever i turn the key. whats the best way to check the fuel pressure?

sounds like it may have jumped time to me its not fireing t the right time did you have the cams done if so id have the chains cheacksed to see if the tensioners let go or where installed wrong the best way to check fuel pressure is with a gauge
This weekend i'm ripping out all aftermarkets an setting this motor back to stock with the exception of exhuast & intake. i'll keep you guys updated for a future reference on these pos's

just fix it dam its a toy fix it and beat the fuck out of it thats what there for not too sit there and bitch cause the once a week you start it and look at it it fucked up atleast when you use it to its potentail you can go ya its broken but look at what i just did to it of corse its broken lol putting a n/a car back to stock makes no sense if it was done correctly it should start and run everyday and take a beating my causin 02 gt it bone stock it has 120k he drives it everyday in the summer and beats the shit out of it with a 100 shot of no2 with no real issues he bought it with 15k miles on it put nitrous when it has 25k its probly had 30 bottles ran threw it he blew a plug out (fixed with hely coil) and blew the rearend (doing doughnuts he hit a curb) so there not pos's you just dont know what your doing or something

last i heard it was knocking & the check engine light was blinking so i turned it off...it never started again. everytime i goto start it the thng it wont, but it wants to.
Droptop- i kno your all about ford, but my breaks popped just last week, now its pulling this bullshit, but on the other hand by the time i get my liscence back at this rate everything should be replaced by then lol.
88mustangt- i would do the 5.0 but im buying the new 5.0 very soon, so i'm gna keep this a 4.6. like i said at the rate this thing is breaking i'll be brand new.

im all about ford because i only want the best i work on cars 40 to 80 hours aweek i know everything has issues and im sure your car being a pain in the ass but you gotta loove these cars to understand you dont know how it was treated before you owned it and did you do pi heads or not cause id look into that work being done wrong before i look at other stuff
You can still run the codes even if the engine won't start. Got a scanner handy?
If could have been knocking because it was stalling out? Is that when you heard it and the engine wouldn't fire anymore?
If you think the engine is flooded, floor the gas pedal to the ground and crank it. Pressing to wot tells the eec to turn off the injectors to allow starting the engine. If it does start, be ready to shut it off. If it is flooded. It could be a bad idle air controller, throttle position sensor or ect.
Funny you say that, i thought the same exact thing so i took my tank out to drain it an there was nothing in it. my gas gauge was stuck on 1/2 tank. i did some wiring an problem solved. im kinda pissed at myself for i runnig my car out of gas, but there was no way of kncowing...... at least there's no real problem.

i didnt kno my gauge was gna stop working and be stuck on 1/2 an sound like garbage when it stalls out lol...i'm glad i spent only an 1hr doing this shit tho an not ripping apart the internals an finding out my guage froze
