i was thinking over the winter i want to turbo the my motor like as cheap as possable need info on what i need what cars offer good parts etc this will be my first turbo install but im confident i can do it thanks
need a turbo preferably since your a bigger motor go like a 60-76 no bigger and you need a waste gate ur gonna need to fab or get a hotside coldside y pipe ect gl loopy...probably gonna want to upgrade your fuel system also
Try to find a used Hellion or B&G turbo kit. They are the best around for fox bodies and its all good quality stuff. You could probably buy just the tubing you need from either company and the hard part is done. Then the rest is easy to find. Its not hard to do, but the tubing is everything. Thats where it gets expensive and difficult to do. There are so many POS turbo cars out there with cheap welds that break with heat. Get all your hotside parts hi temp coated too while you're doing it.
If you can find someone who truly knows how to weld then you can make your own hotside. Cold side isn't too hard to do on your own either. Just finding a real welder isn't as easy as you may think.
thanks guys im so stoked on boosting this bitch its not funny i wanna be turbo by next summer she yells at me every day she wants more so im gonna give her more im hoping to be around the 500hp when its all done. ever hear about the kits from on 3 performance they seem good theres many youtube videos with there systems in it.
on 3 and treadstone are just copys of bg made bye ching chongs they work good i had a all stock 90 gt automatic that use to spin tires at 60 mph but the stainless they use is cheap and it cracks alot
On 3 is very so so in terms of quality. The biggest thing you need is good quality tubing and welds. B&G and Hellion provide that. Thats also the hardest thing about a turbo kit is the tubing and getting good quality stuff. On 3 stuff works, but lets see them if 5 years if their kit lasts that long. B&G and Hellion will last that long and longer.
If you want a cheap turbo kit just buy an ebay kit. It will crack and fail and then you will be bitching about it on here like you had no idea. If you watch classifieds and pay attnetion you can find some good deals on used kits.
check out www.ponydown.com they make really nice turbo kits and hot side kits. thats what im using for my twin turbo headers. you can get a single set up for like $325 bucks i think. 4 year warranty on the piping too.
