RE: been having some problems with the 89

Yes, that's the pick-up. It and the TFI are commonly known to fail They can both be tested though.

But for $10 more you can get a Ford replacement part off rockauto.com vs an aftermarket. P/N DU30C

well i went outside this morning and the fuel pump now is not coming on, so i took my seat out and tested the fuel pump relay heres what i got

orange/blue wire-12.07
pink/black wire-7.84
red/black wire-6.23
brown/green wire-6.23.

i took out the kick panel to look at wires near computer and i found something weird someone jumped two wires from a piece of the harness and ran them through the passengers door grommet from what i could trace havent taken the panel off yet her are some pics of the wire whats is this wire for.
I really need help with this im still not sure if its the fuel pump or something else it died on my me a few times yesterday and no pump would come on. i am so stumped.
all these test were with the key in the on position

check your pwr and ground at the relay.....this is one reason why i aked before if the car was a original 5.0 car.

Is this car a 4banger conversion? Are you sure you have the matching year wiring harness? I had a problem with my car when I switched to efi. I had a different engine harness than the body harness. My fuel pump would just mysteriously shut off and not start up. Then I would come back later and it would start. I bought a ford engine harness and connected it to a 93 body and never had the problem again. I believe there was an additional relay for the pump on that harness. Good luck

Nope.

A9L never came in a 1993, but doubt that would be your issue.

Did you ever change the dizzy out?

A lot of times, stall and no start is related to either the pip or the tfi.

Let me dig around for a bit and see if I cam find anytthing else to look into

as i read this thread its almost like you stole my car. (89 4 cylinder conversioin) my car is having the exact same problems. ive gone and acctually just started replacing everything and anything that people said well it could be this or it could be that. i replaced the tps sensor, plugs, wires, new cap and rotor, ive adjusted my timing, i changed the tfi on the distributor. changed my accel coil just to get worse result to switch back to my accel. i also cannot figure out what the hell is going on with my car. when its hot wont start. ive actually wiated for half an hour at the gas pump for my car to cool off enough to start.

its a possibility its the pip sensor in the distributor. thats what fixed my problem. Then i could shut it down and start it up anytime i wanted. If you have any other questions just ask.

I've had my car a little over a year. Never had any problems. Now after it sat over the winter it runs like shit. Only when it is warm it won't start. I can go out start it up it will idle fine shut it off and then start right back up. But when the car is between 180-190 won't start. My fp I think maybe a little low from what I've read in the thread. My car is always at 32# my injectors are 30#. When the car is still cool it idles great. But if I drive it just sputters hesitates bogs almost like its misfiring. But when the car is warm it runs and drives great. Shut it off no start.till it cools off. Like you said loopy its driving me fing crazy

i bought a reman distributor and that seemed to fix my no start and hesitation problem there like 100 bucks with the module at auto zone and advanced. then my computer relay was shitting the bed and then one day just died. i replaced the distributor because i did not feel like taking it apart it was only 50 bucks more i would try that
