86 mustang drive train into a 95. what do i need?

I have a 86 5.0 that is going to get crushed (it's rotten). i will be putting everything i can in a 95. what will i need? will my shorty headers from my 86 work on the 95 will the x pipe or H pipe work? Will the 86 radiator fit in the 95? i have looked at jegs and summit and some things are 94-95 only but i am just wondering if i can make some of the stuff i have work easily? What else can you think of? I want to get this on the road soon. thanks for your time.

93 HEADERS ARE ANGLED DIFFERENTLY THAN 95 HEADERS SO IF UR GONNA USE 95 HEADERS USE 95 H-PIPE OR 93 HEADERS USE 93 H PIPE

I'm glad you were told what you wanted to hear ... But the truth will be completeley different. I'll give you this for thought ... the SN95 chassis is nothing like a fox chassis . About the only thing that will fit correctly ( with out using a hammer , torch , and welder ) is the engine . Remember you have a nice car to start with ... if you get desperate to finish it in some " get er done " way then it will be an abortion . I say sell what you can out of the 86 to finance the parts for the 95 ! Otherwise "good luck " !!

i put a 95 cobra motor and tranny in my 86 capri with no hammer or torch or welder so i dont know why it would be a hack going in the other direction

It fit right in with no problems .... I don't know how that is considering the 94 up bell housing is over an inch longer than the 93 down as well as the input shaft from the 94 up tranny .
I tried this same swap with a 94 GT tranny and engine into a 86 GT. The engine fit no problem but , the tranny was a no go . would not line up with the shifter hole in the tunnel plus would not fit in the tranny cross member because of it being to far back . So if you did what you said then you either did what you had to to get to fit ( which means hacking ) or you used a fox style tranny and bell housing if it dropped right in .
I don't expect people to agree with me ...I just offer my own expereinces . I have built many mustangs from 83 to 2002 and played with others at speed shops that was not mine . So when I respond to a thread it's not something I pull out of my ass .

if you use a fox t-5 in your sn95 car you will need to buy a spacer that you put between the end of your driveshaft and rear end, ed sold my buddy an sn95 that had this...car had no problems

thanks for all the input guys. i am motivated now to get this thing done (in the next month or less) so i need all info i can get.

Mineral 02 keep the info coming. thanks for your time.

i just found this on another site.

"Q:correct me if im wrong, the tko 500 will fit both fox body and sn95.

A:you will have to get a new bellhousing, fox clutch fork, slip yoke, and modify your crossmember. also will need a driveshaft spacer because the tko is shorter. if it is a 26 spline you will also need a new clutch."

i am going to look around some more right now. i am waiting on some thing to caome in the mail and some motor work to get done then i will be test fitting things and we will see what works.

Yes .... but the shifter hole will still need to be modified because it will be over an inch forward as well as the tranny cross member . It just is not a direct swap and thats all I was getting too .

Wadman the info you found is correct .
