no flammingpony sold me a legit explorer intake thats all ported, but i just want a diff upper. I'm gonna drill and tap the lower out this week for the temp sensor so i just need the upper.
im gonna buy thrashers upper and lower so if you want to trade lowers i will do that, im sure his had the temp sensor port. also if you want to just trade me back the explorer upper for my upper we can do that and u keep your cash

Technically, with a ported lower, the Explorer intake is a better upper to run. The flow is more evenly distributed and doesn't starve the #3 and #6 cylinders as much as the Cobra/Gt40 due to a larger internal plenum. Usually this isn't a factor because the lower is the restriction, but with a ported lower, it starts to come into play more. If you are running some decent flowing heads with a ported lower, you might want to stick with the explorer
I have a Cobra upper, but picked up an explorer upper for my ported lower since you can get them dirt cheap. Haven't convinced myself to make the swap yet though because the Explorer intake isn't as nice looking. I might do a dyno swap between them and get some real numbers after i get my combo together to see if there is a significant difference.
They can be made nice with some work though.

Depends though. I've seen some painted Explorer setups that look damn good. Best i've seen is one painted gunmetal, with a polished 5.0 HO intake plate. Of course, the rest of the engine looked as good too.
If you toss it on straight off the explorer all oxidized and dirty..it looks like crap. I guess how good it can look depends on how good you make it look.
