so i put on a new exhaust set up yesterday. new x-pipe and catback. my o2 sensors were frozen into my old h-pipe and i could not get the out, so i just threw some bolts in the new x-pipe and proceded on with the install. well today my car is having issues with bucking and hesitating below 2000 rpm and at idle or when i come to a stop the idle jumps up and down dramatically and nearly stalls.
my question is if i replace my o2 sensors will everything clear up. i cannot get them out of my old midpipe and dont really want to spend the $80 bucks at the moment on new ones. what can i do? just suck it up and buy new ones?
LMAO u NEED O2 sensors for ur car to run properly. yes suck it up and buy new ones. you can get the old ones out if you heat them til they are orange but there is a chance u will mess up the threads.
buy the new ones ill send you a $10off $25 purchase at advance auto so buy one then go back and buy another so you save $20
antoher thing is disconnect you battery so that ur ecu will reset to the new exhuast do you have any cats if you dont you need mill eliminators so it tricks your computer so it runs right the link i have for the coupons is on newengland-mortorsports.com so you might have to sign up to get them but it is worth the savings

so you guys think if i just disconnect the battery the ecu will relearn the new setup without the o2 sensors? i forgot to mention my check engine light is on without the o2's as well
you are going to have to get a chip tuned to run your car with out o2's since my car is obdII i bought a tuner and turned my rear o2's off since i have 4 on my car
it is going to cost around 200 to get your car tunned your check engine light will still come on and possible not run right cuase you do not have cats and the tune in your car is looking for them

alright i guess you guys convinced me... damn it. haha Ill have to pick up new one becuase I stipped the old ones with the closed end of a box wrench technique. I'll just print out wheel's coupons and buy them one at a time. thanks for the help guys
ummm, you don't "NEED" o2 sensors. They're nice for a stock-ish stang but once heavily modified i'd rather not have them. The only time the o2 sensors are used is during idle and part throttle cruising. As soon as you hit WOT (actually well before WOT) the car switches into Open loop and completely ignores the o2 sensors. Personally i like to keep my car in open loop, so my o2 sensors aren't even being used. Had it tuned this way at Dez racing, gives complete control over the tune and this way the computer won't try to learn around the tune. Then again my car is nowhere near stock. I have two brand new o2's in my car (literally less than 5miles and maybe 30-40min of running time) that i'd probably sell dirt cheap if you still need/want some.

if you heat up the o2 sensors with a torch they will be as good as garbage ......so just go out and buy some new ones
