So, for shits and giggles i put my car up on craigslist to see what i could get. I got an email from this guy from Salem who wants to trade, heres what his car is.
Its an 86 gt with ttops, 89 engine Jasper short block ported E7 heads, trick flow stage one cam, lifters and springs. Edelbrock intake and carb. roller rockers and aftermarket pushrods cobra shorty headers, accel 8.8 wires, all emission crap taken off but saved underdrive crank pulley, T5 rebuilt 5k miles ago newclutch h-pipe and vortec cherry bomb mufflers,
How does that sound for a trade? Does that sound like a good setup hes running and how much power would you guess hes making?
looks decent and with all honesty dont get a fox unless you plan on working on it all the time...especially if you drive it daily...just alittle advice from personal experiance...
All i see are the list of mods. What about the car? How many miles are on it? How many on the '89 engine?
Don't buy the mods...buy the car (or trade) they are bolted on. Granted, i'm passing judgement on a car i've only seen 3 pics of and a small paragraph of info. I'd need to see in person to be fair.
Personally, i think trading an SN95 for a fox is a step down. PI swap your NPI engine and never look back. SN95's have better brakes, better stiffer chassis, longer wheelbase, ABS (some), nicer interior and more modern.
If this is your own and only car, then expect to be under the car or under the hood every weekend on a Fox. I could never DD a fox mustang again. After driving my 5.0 around for 2 hours...i can't wait to get back into my G35. Even my '03GT rode like a caddy compared to my 5.0.

^^ thats exactly what i said you better plan on working on it all the time especially if its that old...trust me...i drive my 89lx pretty much every day and today for instance i roll up to the job site i'm working at (an hr and 20 min from my house) at 7:00 am to get out and see my radiator hated its life and blew and all my anti freeze went everywhere....i just looked at my foreman and said "fucking things just old and shouldnt be driven around like this everyday" haha......i filled her up with wanter and made it home but i mean the radiator in the car looked new so with these old fucking cars you never know when they are gonna break or just expect them to break like most of us do anyways....so i say keep the sn95 man
if you dont have a lot of mmoney you should stick to your sn95. I have an 89 fox that is in very good condition with lots of work and lots of mods. But i tell you what i have a dedicated day everyweek to fix my car because theres always something going wrong with it. I replaced spark plugs. Then plug wired tranny mount. Now i got a bad breakline and need to do the breaks. My exhaust had a leak. Then the radiator hose blew. If you want a fox just be prepared to fix things and watch all your money go out the window.
if you want to lean about cars and how to work on cars get the fox, i say that because thats how i started. there is no better way to learn about 5.0's then to have one and work on it yourself. the guys on top are tellin the truth but im sayin you will learn a lot. but if your the type to send it to a mechanic you mine as well keep the 97.
i love mine pretty much the same car but its all in what you like i personally dont like sn95s i only like foxes but they are higher maintaince i think there worth it, there usauly a love hate thing
