my tranny is toast. grinding into 3rd 4th and reverse. also pulls out of second. im either looking for a fairly new or recently rebuilt t-5, or i have 2 t-5's that do the same thing that i would gladly have rebuilt for the right price. does mark7kevin build tranny's too? or just rears? any suggestions?

Call brian 774 263 6272...He dose good work at rebuilding trannys.500.00 plus your old trannys each tranny you give him he will take 50.00 off.
You can do it yourself. Hanlon motorsports used to sell the rebuild kit and the video telling you how to do it for around $150. I have never done one, but a couple of my friends have and they say its not too tough.
You just need a gauge to measure end play when installing the spacers for the input shaft and on the countergear. Other tools you need are common hand tools and things you can rent or have done. Replacing synchros is pretty easy and can be done with 3-jaw puller and hand tools. For the countergear you will need a press. Everything else can be done with things you have in your toolbox. I haven't had a prob with getting stuff into spec. It's been pretty easy.
T-5's are easy to rebuild and parts are plentiful and cheap. I've done several for friends for maybe $100-200 in parts. I sold t-5's i rebuilt for $400. I don't do them anymore... I just don't have the time

After you get a good one in your car, i'd def try to take one of the junk ones apart and rebuild it yourself. That's how i learned. You'll find it comes in handy.
I actually have two T-5's for my car. One is in it now, and the other is a freshly rebuilt unit so that if anything happens to the one in the car, i can swap the other one in and have it ready to go.
Don't spend a cent on rebuilding a T5...Not worth it. Go on craigslist and find one, just tell the guy you want to see it in action before you buy it or for him to give you some kind of guarentee/warantee on paper...Either that or go with a world class T5 brand new or a TKO500. My tranny is on the way out too...I talked to like 4 tranny shops and they all said the T5 aint worth the rebuild, and you would think they would try to get my business...LOL shows you how shitty T5's are.
