Downs upper intake. Ok long story short I just bought a Gt with some work done to it and I have been hearing to dump the Downs upper intake for a Cobra or GT40. Is this right or can I keep it. Is the intake really taken power away from the car?? Thank you Mike.

that upper intake is for a car with a blower or turbos so with short intake runners thats a real low rpm setup you have and that's not what you want unless you wanna make power at 1500 rpms

Short runner intakes Like the Down's Ford one are to help the engine breath better @ higher RPM's . However you will sacrafice low end torque which is not ideal for a street car . You will likely find that providing you have a GT40 or cobra lower ..... that an explorer / GT40/ or cobra upper will make the car respond better at lower RPM's . In my opinion the Downs is for racing and would work better with a power adder like already stated .
^ hes right i put a down box on my blower car and it pulls a little harder up top but i def lost low end torque and its noticible because before the gt40 had some low end nuts and now it dont as much at all
Yea I found a GT40 and will be swaping out the downs. I hope I can do it this weekend. Thanx for all the input on this..
