Im debating on whether or not i want to do a 351 swap in my car. Ive heard you can use 351 heads on a 302. Is that true? What is the power difference from a 302 to a 351? Which would handle nitrous better ir either of them would?
There is no replacement for displacement !! An engines ability to make power is determined on the amount of air that can be moved through it . So .... it only makes sense that the bigger the cubes .... the more air can be moved and thus making more power !
351 heads can be used on 302's the only dif is the head bolt size 351's are 1/2 inch 302's are 7/16,there are pro's and cons 2 both 302's and 351's as far as power differance stock for stock there would be no diff but modded they both will make tons of power 351's have a much stronger block but are alot heavyer and the have very long rods witch means they dont rev half as fast or as snappy but the cubes do end up makin up for it, but i wouldent count out the good ol five ohhh there so easy to make power and parts are dime a dozen it comes down to how much money you want to spend what you do with the car and how much hp you want!
The older 351w heads are different. You need to find a set of D0OE casting. I have a set of these. They are slightly hand porting and enlarged valves(1.94/1.6) the flow better then some aftermarket heads.
If you are planing on going with a 351w. I am selling one. It's on ebay
