Powerslot Rotors/Hawk Breaks

OK. After doing research and talking to members I have decided to get the Powerslot Silve Cadium Plated (non rusting/corrosion) Front AND Rear from American Muscle
AND

Hawk HPS (High Performance Street) Brake Pads Front and Rear from American Muscle All together with my discount I would be spending $488.76
It has been awhile since I have bought brakes and rotors so I was wondering if this pricing looks acurate. What do you guys think? holeshot

I personally think it's a waste of money. With the mods you have I believe the factory brakes are more than adequate. Just my twocents.gif

I didn't quite think about it like that. I was talking brakes and people recommended powerslot/hawk. Thanks Bonz, you got a good point. I will look into OEM replacements, but probably will end up with the above. I really like the look a lot better and my brakes suck, even when they were new.

factory brakes FTW! think about it tho bonz is right, replacements will end up costing about $220 for both front and rear or you could spend close to $500... buy OEM and put the money towards an exhaust or something

FR? how do you like drilled and slotted? Ive heard many negative things about drilled. such as eating away at the brake pads, dirt and rocks and get caught in holees causing bad wear... etc. have you had any problems?

Hawks tend to sometimes squeal and make a lot of dust.

I typically tell the average person to just buy Ford OEM (not motorcraft) pads. Factory specs for noise and dusting are usually tighter than aftermarket pads. I beleive the ford front pads are made by PBR for their calipers.

For rotors, tirerack.com sells brembo blank rotors for near-parts store pricing. I beleive i paid $35 for each rear rotor.

As far as rusting...that's what high-temp paint is for.

If you are gonna spend $500 for brakes...upgrade to 13" at least. There is a HUGE difference in performance. I paid $310 for my Mach 1 upgrade. PBR/Ford pads, Brembo blank rotors, Stainless braided lines, a little high temp paint and she looks good and stops on a dime. GT brakes don't compare at all

where could I find Ford pads??? What other pads are recommended?
You couldn't have found rear rotors for 35. On tirerack.com they are 60- for EACH front, 53- for EACH rear. Tough decision

Got my ford pads at ford. They have motorcraft and Ford OEM. The OEM pads cost more. Motorcraft is designed to be cheaper to compete with parts store pads. I forget the cost as i had a friend get me my set (for the rear)

Rear rotors must have gone up then. They were $35 each when i bought them. GT rotors.

I did my rear brakes when i did my Mach 1 fronts. Brembo's on all 4 corners and Ford OEM pads. Stops on a dime. I love it

i do about 5 brake jobs a week and on the right cars that need good braking i use the powder coated premium rotors and the ceramic pads. i buy brake parts from napa and have never had a premium brake setup from that come back for anything.
