so i have my stuff together to put the s-trim on my car, but im having second thoughts. like today my brothers motor blew on his 03 f250. the blower was only on his truck for TWO WEEKS and he had a pretty safe tune. that worries me. and it seems like every forum i hear people like rob say "a blower is like pulling the pin of a grenade on a 5.0" my car only has 60k miles on it and runs friggen mint for what it is. i see what poor mike heath is dealing with and that scares me away tooo. what do you guys think i should do? im not going to be driving the car like a hero, i just wanted to run like 6-8 psi for a little more fun, but its not worth a blown motor every week.
right now my cars pretty much stock. it has 410's, cobra intake, bbk cold air, o/r hpipe & flowmaster catback, 2800 stall and a friggen sweet tranny. but some nice trick flows dont sound half bad either..
if you do it just be prepared for the worst that can happen if you understand what can happen then at least you know. my motor had 80 k on it and it blew oil out of the valve cover like a faucet. but im sure that if its installed properly and not all cheezy youll be fine.
here's a suggestion......edelbrock heads, trickflow stage 1 cam ,trickflow intake, 24# injectors,75maf,and a 150 wetshot of nitrous...about 300 rwhp natual and over 400 with the shot...still reliable too......personably i would do all this without the nos.......or say fuck it and sell your lx to buy a terminator.
I agree with everyone too. Heads, cam, Intake. And all of the bolt ons. The blower route can be very costly and you are relying on someone else to tune. You can have a 12 second car with all of the above and it will be very reliable and streetable.

If you keep the boost down and don't go for block splitting power then you will be fine ! Besides how is it that nitrous is safer than a blower ? You can easily blow an engine on the jug too ! It's like this Amanda .... You can run a blower and be reliable as long as you have someone that really knows and understands what they are doing . I see alot of people that won't take the necessary steps to do the job right . They will buy a used blower thats missing half the shit .... Then use the wrong injectors and airmeter .... Plus use an under spec fuel pump . The big kicker is when they take it out and go for a boost run with out tuning it first !! .... or use the wrong octane fuel ..because they were to cheap to buy the good stuff . ....
If you stay around 10 psi ... use the correct heat range plugs ... Use the right injectors and matching airmeter ..... with a 255 lph forced induction pump .... use a good MSD ignition system and Boost Timing Master . It will be ultra safe .. As long as your engine is in good mechanical condition to begin with .
Plus keep this in mind .... would Ford have put one on the 03-04 cobra or GT 500 if all they did was blow engines !! Once you feel the power that boost can give you ... You will be addicted !!
H/C/I and a set of gears-I would think you'd be happy with that..............
x2 wayyyyyyyy happier, u wont be fixing and tuning it everyweek
Why do you guys think it has to be tuned all the time ? It isn't like that if your not screwing with it all the time . Besides you want to put a chevy motor in your mustang ... so your opinion doesnt count !! LOL Jk Frank !!
id have to agree with mineral 02 im the asshole who bought an incomplete kit threw it on it and whped the shit out of it asap...but i have sever add and i needed a lesson learned
