ok guys i finally got the s trim and i want to install it on my pos motor for about a months or two....i still need bigger inj so if anyone has em let me know. so for those of you who have done this any heads up on something specific on what i should or shouldn't do. Any input is greatly appreciated.
It looks as though that blow off valve is setup to re-route the blown by air back into the intake track after the MAF sensor. But without seeing the whole setup its hard to tell.
No need for the t-rex inline pump. Put a 255lph in tank pump and you are good. I'd recomend a BTM unless you plan to have it dyno tuned with a custom chip then there is no need for it. I'd also recomend going to steps colder than a factory plug and gap them at about .030
Run the kit as a blow thru setup. Make sure they bypass valve vents right to the air and not back into the system. You will have MAF wash issues and driveability issues. Some tuners can tune around it and some can't.

If you run this kit as a blow thru setup just put the MAF sensor after the BOV... this should eliminate any MAF "Wash issues". If you decide to go with a draw thru setup (MAF before the air inlet on the blower, which is how i think this kit was intended to be run) re-route the blow off air back into the intack track after the MAF sensor. it might not be a perfect setup but I think it will aleviate most of the MAF wash issues.
or... if your only running ~6 or 7 psi, don't run a BOV at all!
I think all Vortech kits are shipped as draw thru. Most tuners now want blow thru setups. Its gotten a lot easier to run and the 05+ style meters really clean things up in the tune. It costs a little extra money, but in the end you are much better off.
i will defininatly do all the right stuff someday but i cannot afford a tuner now....i plan on seeing what everyone elce sets there engine managment crap at and try to copy them but i dont have the $$ for a tune. I just wanna bolt on and get what i can.
also.... does anyone know what size bung to put on the pan for the return line theres about 8 inches of 1/2 inch hose for the return line off the head unit....i dont know what is the best thing to attach to that 1/2 inch hose and run to the pan i dont want to downsize and have the return line be too restrictive.... let me know what worked.
In the pics I see the head unit has a cog drive pulley on it and it looks pretty small . I'm thinking it will make more boost than your motor can handle Make sure the blowers internals are in good shape before spending anymore money or going through the installation proscess . Also look for any oil leaks around the pulley shaft seal . There should be no play in the shafts or impeller wheel . Also did the kit come with the cog drive crank pulley ? If not then you will need that too . Something to consider is .... while a cog drive is ideal .. because of no belt slip issues ... The belts are costley . I think they are around 200. for the belt . You can also just put it back to the standard serpentine set up . You can get different size crank pullies as well as different size blower pullies so you can taylor the amount of boost you want .
As far as injectors ..I recomend 42's and a good ignition box ..MSD 6al or digital 6 and an MSD coil too . A 255lph intank fuel pump will be fine for your power level , but you will need a a meter calibrated for the inj. Something 75 mm or bigger . I would also recomend using an intercooler . It's not needed , but it will make more power with less chance of detonation on hot humid days by cooling down the intake air temperatures alot . Boosted air can get very hot and as a result can cause detonation You could also use a methenol kit like Snow Performance too .
Jesus, that stuff looks like it was pulled off the Titanic. Couple thoughts, I have the punch needed to put hole in pan if you need one. Your gonna chew up belts on the street with a cogged system,belt can't slip on rapid decell like a serp set up. You can look at my car for reference on where to put hole in pan. 42lb injectors are minimum I would use. Call me if you have any questions.

i gave the kid less money than he wanted for the setup so he took the cog setup i just had to take them off myself this morning im fine with running the stock pulleys as my car is a pos anyway. i just want to get this on and running and i cant dump more than another 500 into it for a while
Also there is a lot more to the kit than i pictured it has the msd setup with boost retard 0-1-2-3 i do plan on getting 255 and 42 pounders with a meter......i dont plan on a blow through meter.....im hoping to find the 42s there is no play or slop in it. oh and i know everything looks dirty and old but its a poor quality pic and some monkey spank with greasy hand touched it all
i just payed for the 42 lb injectors mass air meter and a meth kit....should be in mid week. all i need hopefully is a radiator hose, fuel pump, and some hoses and fittings for oil lines. should be installed by the end of the weekend. the kit i got is this, Anderson Ford MR. Freeze methanol injection kit....any input would help thanks

if you get in a jam you can make a radiator hose using two stock ones and some tubing... ask me how i know.

Don't even think of putting a blower on your car and not tuning it!!! If you don't want to grenage that thing, spend the extra couple hundred and get it tuned on a dyno, or spend $100 bucks for 4 or 5 pulls and do it yourself.
The last thing you want is to get everything buttoned up only to have to tear it down again and rebuild because you didn't tune it. Not worth cutting corners there.

Vdotpump = 255 LPH x 1 ft3 / 28.32 L = 9.0042 ft3/hr Mdotfuel = fuel x Vdotpump = 0.68 x 62.4 lb/ft3 x 9.0042 ft3/hr = 382.07 lb/hr Mdotinjector = 382.07 lb/hr / 8 = 47.76 lb/hr
And if we work backwards from 47.76lb/hr injectors we can find out that our 255LPH pump will be sufficient to ~ 500 supercharged HP. (using very conservation B.S.F.C. to attain this hp #).

What happens if his in tank pump fails? It has been known to happen. A good inline pump for an extra $125 bucks is cheap insurance if you ask me. I never said that an in tank 255 couldn't handle what he is planning on doing. I just said that an inline pump would be a good idea, especially if he isn't going to be running an FMU.

Generally fuel pumps work, or they don't. I've never seen a pump start producing significantly less flow due to failure... they just die. And if it dies, its going to be a huge restriction(if it doesnt all toghether clog) for the inline pump. In either case his is still better off running one fuel pump if it can handle the power. Not to mention the added complexity/ burden of having another fuel pump to worry about.... but that's just my 2 cents.
i understand the reasoning for each input... my motor is a pos so ill take that risk.....if i had $$invested there i may change my mind but i dont. but i appreciate all the info.
