DSS usually get a pretty good rep for motors or at least they used to. I know most 408 guys run big nitrous shots and go 10's all motor and 9's or faster on nitrous. I think some say 331 over 347 due to the oiling issues on older 347 kits, I speak from experience that those issues have been overcome on 347's. You could just buy a stroker kit and have machine shop do the block and assemble it yourself. Its really not that hard to do, but then I have only done a 347 so take that for what its worth. Are you gonna do blower, turbo, n/a, nitrous? How fast do you want to go and how much power do you want to make? The 351 block is good to about 700-750hp in that range so keep that in mind to.
I would say 408 minimum, I think Bennett does a 418 kit and I know CE racing did a 427 I think or 418 in a 1st gen lightning w/ a blower, DFI and a Job Spetter, Jr. tune. I'm sure that truck makes some big #'s. Coast High also does a stroker kit for a 351. Best thing is go on the big mustang tech forums, like corral.net and see what those guys have had success with.
power adder not sure its gonna be fuel infected lol and will be done over winter and im a machnist and used to work at a engine shop but never owned and didmnt build any 351 mostly chevy 350 and big blocks but ne ways i would like low 11s or high 10s or faster but its a street car on 10.5 drag radials ,cage ect..but not a daily driver

an n/a 408 will get you into 10's with a properly setup car. You could get those time easily w/ a h/c/i 302 and an s trim, paxton novi or P1SC. If you know how to build engines then just buy a stroker kit and do it yourself. Put that money elsewhere, like heads. TFS R's or AFR 205's are successful on those motors too. I'd do a turbo on a 351 stroker. The low end torque w/ a high rear end gear ratio, like a 3.27, would be nice. It would get that turbo spooling up good when you hit the power band. You could really make some huge #'s with a setup like that.
My buddy just put 3.55's in his hellion car w/ a T56 in a mod motor cobra. He loves it.
either s trim or turbo no n20 just cuz i would never stop sprayin
turbo seems alot more money but more power i was thinking 408 low compress girdled block blower cam ,15 lbs of boost or whatr ever i could do safely but turbos are realy what i like and with a 408 probaly 500 to the tire easy but expensive

A properly done 408 turbo will make well over 500 hp. Fox body turbo kits aren't as expensive as you think. They are competitive with blower kits. B&G makes one of the best out there and its $3500 I think complete, Hellion is a bit more cuz they use stainless steel tubing. Not sure how they would work w/ a 351 though, you would have to ask whoever you get it from or make your own.

If a 408 turbo only makes 500, then its definately not properly done. You can get well over 500 from any old 302 with H/C/I + S-Trim or Novi.
With a turbo on a 408, I wouldn't settle for anything less than 700 to the wheels.

You can get 500 h.p pretty easy on a 408 N/A with a carb. It will still be streetable too. A motor like this will run 10's all day long and you can drive it back and fourth to the strip. It won't be the easiest thing to drive and the fuel mileage will suck. However it will be fun to drive. How much power do you really need in a street driven car anyways? There are plenty of turbo'ed and supercharged cars out there that have alot of power but only run 11's due to the driver, car,or traction or all three. Some cars are down right dangerous with too much power and not enough car. Plan on spending alot of $$$$ for a stroker that can handle some boost.
