I have always felt a small vibration but not bad. This weekend I was fucking around with a gto on the highway. At 120 I thought the car was going to fall apart. Above that speed it was ok again. Could it be u-joints or is it the drive shaft it self?
you don't really feel it you just kind of hear it. I thought it was the front hub but i did both fronts last week. when i hit the gas a little it kind of howls but if i let off it stops. but at 120 its pretty mean.
I'm with pitbull on this one . Does the car have aftermarket gears ? Could be set up wrong and prematurley wore out the pinion bearing . Jack it up and suport it with jack stands . Make sure the E- brake is off and it is in neutral . Then grab the yoke and see if it has any up and down play . If so you found the problem . If not then it could be caused from harmonics in the gears from the back lash not being in spec . If your not feeling it through the shifter then I would say it's not the driveshaft or u joints . If you can't feel it in the steering wheel then it's not the front end . Hope this helped !!
Vibrations are always tough to track down. It could be a number of things combined or it could be one simple thing. U-joints, driveshaft, tires, wheels, Pinion angle, suspension bushings, motor mounts, tranny mount, etc could be problems. Start with the u-joints and driveshaft first. If they turn out ok then go to the pinion yoke like Pitbull and Mineral 02 said and keep going untill you find out what it is.
