Some people know that I'm running a Megasquirt in my 87 GT. Decided to post up some pictures of my set-up at the moment:
This is the Megasquirt and where it's gonna be mounted. The cable will be cut to fit just wanted to route it first and before I shortened it.(Yes I know my carpet is mad dirty lol)
Blinding at night high-intensity blue LED:
This is the EEC-IV Adapator board, it fits inside the stock EEC-IV ECU case and allows you to plug the Megasquirt right into the stock fox engine harness. The cable to Megasquirt comes out the J3 port where you usually stick the aftermarket chip:
Here are some pics of the EEC-IV case put back in as if it was stock. The only difference being the large black cable that now runs back down and underneath the connector to the Megasquirt:
I'm using a TechEdge WB02 unit wired right into my Megasquirt. You don't need it but it makes things alot easier:
Megasquirt is a stand-alone engine management system like FAST/AEM/Big Stuff3. The big difference is that it is a build it yourself unit making it much cheaper and also at times much more frustrating to some people. lol
It's like an Anderson PMS or AEM plug-n-play. Piggy back management unit for EEC computer that you can program/adjust.
Ehhh not really... MS is never a true piggy-back system even though sometimes people will use it more like one. A piggyback needs the stock computer to work. Megasquirt does not need anythign but itself to control fuel and spark. There is no EEC-IV in my car anymore. It is a full stand-alone.
Sometimes people have cars where they use the MS to control fuel and spark but will leave in the stock ECU if in controls things like guages, ABS, etc.., This is referred to as piggy-back but it's really not cause piggyback units intercept singals and send new ones to the stock computer to get it to do something. MS doesn't do any of this.
