***Help Leaking Tranny Fluid***

I just noticed the other day that I'm leaking tranny fluid from where the speedo gear connects to the tranny. It's not too severe of a leak but has a slow leak from there.. What should I do to fix that? Please Help, thanks to those who reply. praise2

is it while running or when its off? there should be a rubber o ring around the speed sensor that goes into the tranny, that may be gone?

I'm assuming while its running and while its off... Yes I know that black O-Ring that your talking about, I think it may be, I think your right... BTW is there supposed to be some sort of thing that holds the speedo gear housing (Outside part) into the tranny or is it just, you push the whole speedo thing into the tranny and don't have to worry about it falling out? Thanks again for the help praise2

Thats what I was thinking I see the little holw for where the screw would go to hold that speedo gear into the tranny, but there is no bolt there or a bracket of some sort that I assume should be there, can anyone chime in on this one, perhaps have a pic of it or something? Thanks again guys.

use a tube of black RTV and glob it all over the spot giving trouble

I replaced the whole speedo gear unit with one I had found laying around in my shed and put it in, doesn't look like its leaking now, but wont know for sure til tomorrow.. I also forgot to take out the gear and swap it over to the new speedo sensor, cuz the one thats on there now is the black gear, so now it's 5mph off so for example if the speedo is reading 40mph I'm acually doing 45mph so when I get back to work I'm going to swap out the acual gear on the speedo sensor so I get the correct speed... I went through one of those electronic speed limit signs and thats how I determined my speed was 5mph off, plus it didn't seem right before I drove through it. But yeah if it still leaks I'll get that RTV crap and gunk it up around there to seal it.. Thanks for the info bro. praise2
