I snapped 2 studs trying to do it that way. I finally took them to a machine shop and had them pressed in. Probably because the studs and axles were hardened. It worked fine with stock studs though.
It works, but if the axle and studs are hardened, good luck. Mine were impossible. Before I got the hardened studs, I got stock replacements in just fine with this method.
