Wheel Bearings

I have an 88 Mustang 5.0 and I'm in need of replacing my front wheel bearings, I know where there located but have never done this kind of job before, and was wondering if anyone has experience with doing them, and could give me some info on the subject, such as, what tools are required and what steps I should take to tackle this.. Is it hard to do? Thanks again guys for the help, any info on this is greatly appreciated.. bret

It's tit...

1) Take off wheel
2) Take off Caliper
3) Take off dust cap
4) Yank the cotter pin out
5) Undo king nut
6) Pull out rotor
6) Pry wheel seal out
7) Yank the bearings out
8) Put new ones in
9) Hammer the new wheel seal on
*Replace in reverse order.

When you tighten the nut, go to about 25 ft-lbs to seat the bearing then back it off a bit and put the cotter pin in.

make sure you pack the bearings good too.

I am doing  the same shit on my 95 and have never done it before. Is it basically the same as earlier models? I don't have a cotter pin and I dont see how I could get the bearings out or back in without breaking the plastic that holds them in place. It would probably help if I had a replacement to look at but I already took em out and havent got the new ones yet.

I would assume it's the same basic procedure as with any year of the mustangs, I'm almost sure it's the same concept, dunno if that helps, but maybe someone else can chime in on that question

I think on your models, you have to replace the entire hub.
