Two young men who went on a test drive in a convertible Mustang Thursday kicked the salesman out of the car and ended up crashing the vehicle after a police chase, authorities confirmed for 11Alive News.
The wreck just before noon shut down the ramp from I-20 westbound to SR 61 in Carroll County and the two men in the stolen convertible were transported to the hospital -- one by air and one by ground.
Police said the ordeal started in Cobb County when the two men showed up at John Bleakely Ford to take a test drive. The salesman was booted from the vehicle somewhere along Post Road in Douglas County.
Officers in the area were told to be on the lookout for the car, which was then spotted on I-20 by Villa Rica police officers. When those officers tried to pull over the driver, he sped away and a pursuit was started.
The driver lost control of the car, which flipped and crashed into a wooded area off I-20 westbound onto Highway 61.
The suspects' conditions have not been released. Both men face numerous charges out of Cobb, Douglas and Villa Rica.
