So i have been having problems with my car hesitating and stumbling when i try to excelerate. My car is a 1990 hatch thats powerdyne supercharged (rebuilt 8psi), 70mm throttle body, 42lb injectors, 255lph fuel pump and a 80mm Pro-M mass air and filter that is on the end of the cold air tube that runs into the fender off the back of the supercharger. I replaced my IAC, TPS, EGR, and fuel filter and it fixed my idle yet my car is still stumbling. So i brought it to my mechanic and he seems to think that my mass air is damaged because the actual mass air box looks to be separating from itself right below where the model # and what not is on the meter itself. So he seems to think i need to replace my mass air. Also he wanted to elimate the cold air pipe that runs into the fender because he said that the mass air is mounted too crooked in the fender and could also be causing me some problems.
So my question is what mass air should i try to get that will mount onto the supercharger with just an elbow so it will fit in the area next to the supercharger and fender wall but not go down into the fender. The space is apox 11x5x8 inch and my Pro-M mass air and filter will not fit in that space so i dont know what to do/ what kind of mass air to look for. Does anyone know what i should do? Should i get another Pro-M Mass Air and stay with it in the fender or try to get a different brand mass air and have him try to make it fit next to the supercharger?? thanks - Jay from Worcester
100's maybe 1000's of people run mass air through fender without issue, myself included. 1st thing I would do is scan the car to see if they're are any codes & then go from there.
