Yes it does cost money but often times people buy it for a month or however long you can get it for as many people when they are searching for a new car are going to be needing to run more than just 1 car and I have seen in other forums people who will do carfax's for others when they have the month or so to save the other people money( This is how I have gotten both of my vehciles carfax reports).

Worse case scenario I will buy carfax tonight( or tomorrow) and it's $29.99 for unlimited access for 30 days, so it makes sence to use that membership. I'll post when I get it.
