Mustang Magazines

Has anyone been featured in a mustang magazine (ex: Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords) becuase I saw 2 fox's at World of Wheels who were in MM&FF and I've always been curious on how one get chosen for an article in a magazine. I'm acutally jealous lol. So if some one here has been in a magazine (for their mustang) let me know how it happened. Thanks.

there was the blue convertible in 5.0 Mustang and SF this month, it was built by UTI in Norwood. You can get your car in there by shooting them an email with some stuff about your car, and they might make it a feature car.

My car's been featured in two magazines and a calendar. How I got in, was different each time.

For my August 2005 issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine, I e-mailed the editor of the magazine (Jim Campisano) a nice writeup of my car, complete with pictures. I also let him know that I would be attending the August 2004 Fun Ford Event @ New England Dragway (which I knew they covered). I never thought that I'd hear from him. Nonetheless, I received an e-mail back the following morning, indicating that he was interested. I held onto the e-mail and replied back to him a week before the show. He replied again, stating that he'd have his photographers be on the lookout for me. It worked and that weekend, I met up with Rod Short. At the end of his time limit for viewing cars, he came back to me and picked mine to be their "Editor's Choice". We did the photos right there.

For my Calendar, I was contacted by the owner of www.foureyedpride.com because she wanted to put a calendar together and wanted to include my car. My brother and I got our cars together and took about 100 photographs, of which I sent here the best 10. She picked one and we both made the Foureyedpride.com 2006 Calendar.

For my April 2007 issue of Modified Mustangs Magazine, their photographer, Tracy Stocker, posted up on foureyedpride.com that they were looking for foureyes to feature. I replied with an e-mail of pictures and a writeup. He replied that they didn't want to feature cars that were previously featured in a magazine. Dejected, I replied that I could get both my cousin's '84 SVO, my brother's '85 GT and my '79 Cobra together for a family shoot. I still got rejected and gave up. Two months later, I got an e-mail from him in which he stated that he wanted all 3 cars and that we were to meet in approximately 3 months. Three months later, all 3 of us drove our cars down to Connecticut and spent the entire day shooting photos. They eventually decided against the family feature but used our cars anyway. Mine made the April 2007 issue, my brother's '85 GT made the July 2007 issue and my cousin's '84 SVO made the August 2007 issue.

There you have it. Three totally different scenario's but the same end result.

If you believe that your car is nice enough to be featured, don't take NO for an answer. You may have to work at it somewhat but the final reward is well worth it. It will also help you if you attend big shows such as Fun Ford Weekend in New Hampshire or Mustangs Unlimited in Connecticut. Also, having something that stands out among the crowd doesn't hurt either.

Here's a pic of our 3 cars from the Modified Mustangs photoshoot.

You can reply to them with e-mails and pictures. Or you can go to a big show where they attend. If you go to a big show while they are there and your car catches their eye they will contact you for a possible feature.
Mine was in the old Mustangs Illustrated Magazine as a feature car back in Feb-2001. They found me up at New England Dragway on a Fun Ford Weekend. I was showing my car in the show and also bracket racing it in the same day. After every round I went back to the show and popped the hood. I ended up winning the Street Ford bracket class and also got the editors choice award in the show. It was a cool weekend. It was also featured in Modified Mustangs back in June of
2007 along with my Brother's car ( Hissing Cobra) and my cousins SVO. If your car stands out in the crowd they will notice you.

One more thing: This is random but do they send you a free issue of the magazine that your car if featured in or do they just tell you and you buy one. hah

They didn't send me any free issues. I had to buy mine both times.

Nope, not really. For my MM&FF feature, eleven months went by and I hadn't seen or heard a thing in regards to when it would come out. I finally called Jim (the editor) and he said, it's in this months issue. I waited for the new one to come out and there it was. Those pictures were taken in August of 2004 and the magazine didn't come out until August of 2005.

For my Modified Mustangs feature, I just kept checking/buying the issues every month until I saw it. The pic's were taken in August of 2006 and I didn't see them in the magazine until April of 2007.

I haven't, but a buddy of mine had an editor talk to him at World of Wheels, and asked if he wanted to be featured. It seems to me like you just need to get your car our there for people to see.
