You will have to change the timing cover and water pump to install it in your 86. You probably wont get 390 h.p. with the fuel injection as they used webbers to get that figure. Who runs Webbers in a Mustang? Only the Cobra guys run Webbers. I too think it is not enough motor for the money. It is more advertising hype with inflated numbers then in real world applications. They should have dynoed it with a RPM manifold and 650 carb and also with the Edelbrock RPM fuel injected intake, and 24lb injectors, 70TB, 75 Mass air meter. Then they would have had more real world numbers that people can relate too.

IMOP i would use someone who has a good track record, and someone who if something isn't right, you can go pay them a visit face to face. From a business sense, i like crate motors with factory backing. I have used 3 ford racing engines in customers cars. I feel that on the Plus side= On time delivery, you now what u got, and a warranty from ford(they do track the engines), u can put 75k miles on one, Minus= Less power per dollar, timing cover for injected motors only If its not from a OE Manufac, you dont know what your getting. I had one done from CHP, it kept pushing head gaskets, after the second set and they tell me i am over heating it, i bring it to a my engine guy, and the block on one corner by the oil gallery is low! Now i have a discrunt customer that is still out a car, and my labor is for not. My engine guy is very good, but your not going to get it in 1 week, more like 2-3 months. Of course there is always expediting ($$$$), that can move it along. "Remember you pay for what you get, but you don't always get what u paid for."(J.M.L.)
